Office: U.S. Representative Florida 5th district
Website: RickForCongress.com

Background:

Rick Penberthy is a proven leader and a true Democrat. A Veteran of the US Army and the US Naval Reserves, Rick has the experience to talk about securing both our country and our constitution. For the past 22 years Rick has been an educator, instilling in his students a sense of responsibility, integrity, and public service. Rick is determined to restore these same values to Washington D.C.

No one comes better prepared to be our United States Representative than Rick Penberthy. His military service, his education, and his integrity will allow him to immediately begin to represent the values of our District.

Rick has proven his determination and dedication throughout his service to our community. Rick's outreach goes beyond the classroom and includes volunteer work with St. Anthony's School Board, Metropolitan Ministries, the Children's Christmas Toy Network, Habitat For Humanity, and Florida Coastal Clean-up. In recognition for Rick's leadership Rick was named Pinellas County's Secondary Social Studies Teacher of the Year and received the Rotary Club Paul Harris Fellowship Award.

Rick Penberthy earned a Bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Social Science, a Bachelors degree in International Studies, and a Masters in Political Science from the University of South Florida.

Goals:

"We need to take care of our veterans, provide affordable health care to all, and create an education system that prepares our children for the future. I've been in public service my entire life, I believe the people of my district need a better, stronger, and more progressive voice in Congress."

Issues:

National Security
Affordable Health Care
Education

Grassroots Support:

"In less than 90 days we mobilized our volunteer base to collect over 5,200 petitions to get my name on the ballot. This is indicative of the kind of campaign we are running in this district. We can't wait until two weeks before the election to mobilize volunteers to reach out to their neighbors. We've started early and we will continue to grow our grassroots campaign until we defeat Ginny Brown-Waite!"

DFA Values:

"I stand for honesty. It's an ideal this country was founded on and I believe it's time to restore that ideal to Washington.

I believe in equality. I believe that every citizen of this nation is entitled to share in the American dream.

And I believe in freedom. Freedom from fear, freedom from economic uncertainty, and freedom from an intrusive government."
