From Joe Trippi: You Smashed Through $15 million!
At 2 o clock you broke your own record for the most raised in a single quarter-- and now only two and a half hours later you've smashed through $15 million. The pundits, doubters and cynics have been wrong all year long, and you've proved them wrong.
We are going to set a record today. The question now is how high will you go? The pundits talk about us running out of gas. They don't get it. We're just getting started.
This campaign is energized like no campaign in history because of your energy. Because of your efforts. You're ringing in a New Year for America. And at New Years eve parties all across the country tonight, even the pundits will be checking the bat to see how high you can go.
Wherever you are this evening, talk about what you've accomplished. Tell others about Howard Dean. Turn on the computer and show them the blog and the bat and show them what you've done. Ask them to join our campaign, and to take the step of joining the $100 revolution by making a small contribution tonight. Let them know that this campaign is about the American people working together to restore our democracy. And that they can join us.
It may be cold in Burlington right now. But this campaign is full of energy and on fire. The pundits and the other campaigns when they try to stop you think they are trying to blow out a candle. They don't understand they're trying to blow out a fire.
We have seven and half hours to go. How high will you set the bar?
Joe Trippi
campaign manager
Dean for America
We are amazing and awesome. I love you all. Keep pushing that bat, for the sake of a girl who can't legally donate anything but the love in her heart.
Oh, and first?
Go us! Go Dean! Go America!
I wanted to write in and thank everyone I met last night at the house party in Lakewood, Ohio. I met some great people and we talked up a storm til nearly midnight.
Even when we disagreed, people enthusiastically but politely exchaged ideas, and that my friends is why I am part of this movement. Knowledge is our power. When informed people share their knowledge, we all are better for it. This campaign is about inclusion, and for that, I am extremely proud.
Tiffany, I hope you read this -- I left the party last night happiest because of the light that seemed to be burning in you by the end of the night.
My challenge to EVERYONE there and supports Dean -- bring one new person each week to the campaign. Get them registered, have them listen to one of Dean's speeches and encourage them to bring one new person each week as well.
If the 13 people at the party I attended last night all bring one new person and they in turn bring one new person, (and so on and so on) and if each week, they each contribute a mere $10 each, that party last night in one quarter would raise $1,064,830 and brought 106,470 new people into the campaign.
Think about that.....we really DO have power. Don't fret that you are running out of money, go out there this week, find someone new who needs the hope of this campaign to change their life for the better, share the light of this movement. Commit $10/week -- the cost of two McDonald's meals or one movie ticket. Is your future, that of your kids, of this country *not* worth it?
In WWI and WWII lives were sacrificed to make the world a better place....can you not give up McDonald's or a movie?
My challenge is simple, take it up, raise the bar, take back your country and change the world, for the better.
Or sit down and be silent the next time you want to complain about how things are. We have the power. We have the power.
Use it.
The power of one.
You.
Me.
Could someone tell me how you get your name to link to a web site instead of an e-mail address?
Dear Joe - Now that we've smashed the bat, CAN WE GET A BLOG ENTRY FROM GOV. DEAN? We haven't had one in ages....
HAPPY (DEAN) NEW YEAR! everyone on the blog, everyone involved with the campaign!
.... and peace on earth.

Type in the url in the URL box when you post and it will be the link your name will go to when clicked.
Proudly wore my Dean pin on my winter jacket and of course, my Howard Dean for America stickers on my snowboard.

May I have more please?
This is in memory of the brains of all my doctor friends at work today which at one time worked well enough to get them through medical school but now have been stolen by the Bush body-snatchers. May Dr. Dean have the medicine to restore their brains to their living conditions!
But I would settle for a photo!
The blog wants Dean! We want to know what he thinks of the 15 million!! Time for a post from the Gov.!
(brings in chorus)
nc dem - just copy the url and paste it into the box that says URL. then when we click your name it takes us to the website.
thank you sir! may we have another!
Go Dean! and let them eat bat!
Last night I hosted one of Oregon's 103 House Parties and we nearly doubled our goal. Most importantly, we picked up at least four solid Dean supporters and nudged at least four more closer to Dean.
Today, I sent emails to colleagues across the country, some I would have bet were solidly Republican -- and already, I've received replies indicating they were going to make a contribution today!
Let's all send one or 50 Happy New Year's greetings to friends and colleagues that includes a request for them to join this incredible grassroots movement to get a new President.
HAPPY DEAN YEAR TO AMERICA!!!

I think Gov. Dean should post, comment on the money, and wish everyone happy new years!! who agrees???
LIES
LYING LIERS!
( They repeat Dean is angry - Dean can't be elected, the usual republicrat B.S)
It is Flipping amazing! THEY LIE
I just turned off the tv. We're getting hammered on all sides. There is a move to blast the good Dr. $15 million won't be enough. We're also going to have to commit a lot of time and extra effort. Talk to your friends and neighbors now. Don't let up. Don't give an inch. Our future depends upon it.
...and the other democrats. I say give them no quarter. If they aren't helping us, they're hurting us. Time to take the gloves off.
Can you tell I'm a bit ticked off???
2004 will be a tough year, but I think we're ready for a fight.
Hey media lurkers .,.. We're on to you!
(A ParrotHead for Dean)
On Crossfire just now, they claimed that Dean has droped 8 points in NH. Is this true?
But hey -- we just broke the bat!! A day to share with the blog community and to rejoice in the fall of the bush and Co.
Go Dean -- We are so in this together!
Are you joining the Louisiana Krewe of Dean? We roll next Thursday night, join us!!!
Fergie
I wonder what he would say if he checked the bat at midnight and saw SIXTEEN MILLION!
If he would post a message and CHALLENGE us, I bet we'd find the strength...:-)
I'll be flipping sofa cushions...just in case. :-)
I am so psyched...we are going to win this!!
I can FEEL it!
The trolls did a great job today. Even that strange Larry Harvey guy. In the words of Haven Hamilton "keep agoin'".
Come on over to www.clark04.com and read all about this important endorsement from the most read newspaper among Native-Americans.
More and more former Dean supporters are coming over to Wes Clark every day. Wes' vision of a New American Patriotism is drawing many deaniacs to the only candidate who can beat Bu$h: GENERAL WESLEY CLARK!
Come on Bloggers...own it, work it,...and don't take anything less than $16 million.
but well beat the son of a bitch.
rotting in hell :) - that's a good start!
Was it Novack the one who outed the CIA agent? Shouldn't he be held for treason???

I think they made it into a book...about goats...
(hehe)
Next quarter we'll have even more people on board. We will break some heavy bats.
One other thing...I saw Tom DeLay on Inside Politics and once again he referred to us as the "Democrat" party. One time on his show Bill Maher told a GOP politician that this term is an insult to the party and on that was generally used by white, ignorant, bigotted Southern politicians and...
...I'm sorry. I forgot. We were talking about Tom Delay.
Hey do you want to watch the terrorist code orange bowl tonight or swing the bat for $20 million?????
GO DEAN!
So is Bush:
Pro air pollution
Pro water pollution
Pro jobs sent over seas
Pro mercury poisoned fish
Pro tempory tax benefits for middle class pro permanent tax cuts for the wealthyPro no child left behind that can go to college
Pro go get your own medical benefits, your company has cancelled your medical benefits
Pro go get your own retirement benefits, we have confiscated your company retirement benefits
After supporting Biden-Lugar and saying that "It's conceivable we would have to act unilaterally, but that should not be our first option." (10/02) and in a speech in February 2003 saying that "…I want to be clear. Saddam Hussein must disarm. This is not a debate; it is a given." and then again on Meet the Press in March 2003 -- I don't want Saddam to stay in power with control over those weapons of mass destruction. I want him to be disarmed."
Here is some text from an article reproduced lower down on this blog:
In a Dec. 10 news conference in Concord, N.H., Dean insisted that he "never said Saddam was a danger to the United States, ever."
But in an appearance on CBS' "Face the Nation" on Sept. 29, 2002, Dean said, "There's no question Saddam is a threat to the U.S. and our allies."
Is there any chance of hitting $45 million by January 31? It would be great to go into Mini Tuesday saying that even that early in the primary season, DFA had already surpassed the fundraising cap for any candidates who had accepted federal matching funds, and it was therefore not just improbable, but an actual legal impossibility for them to catch up.
Red, white, and blue inflatable bats imprinted with "Swing for Freedom" and www.deanforamerica.com.
30" inflatable bats are available inexpensively from promotional products companies. Can we get some in Dean Mart in time for spring training?
They could be made available at Meetups and House Parties and we could bash elephant-shaped pinatas with them - a truly interactive form of political action.
Yup, we need bats. Keep swinging for freedom!
How about we forget the lying pundits and trolls for tonight and just have fun. We deserve it.
Ans: As many as it takes. Batter up!
Trippi: Calm down before you blow a
gasket and set the whole Dean movement back a minute or two.
WE WANT DEAN! WE WANT DEAN! WE WANT DEAN!
HQ - are you off the floor yet? Well, I guess so because Trippi posted, unless he was lying on the floor as he typed!
Hats off to this entire campaign! I am SO PROUD to be a part of this. I'm going to find kleenex because I can't stop crying...
GO DEAN GO!!
Hey Z - Is the Gov with you there this evening???
This is too cool! The Bat is out of control. Go, Bat, go! Dean in 2004!
Said motion was accepted by the blog.
Said motion was seconded by a member in good standing of the blog.
Henceforth, said motion to post to the blog by the Gov. has been passed and is currently pending action by the Gov.
IN SHORT: HOWARD POST SOMETHING!
As we sit on the threshold of a new year, I would love to hear from our next President!
I keep waiting for the "corporate media" to get it, and I end the year with the certain realization that they won't. Us? Angry? If it is possible to be ecstatic and angry at the same time, hell yes!
Many of you have read posts about last Saturday nights's gathering of bloggers in Chicago, or you may have read about on Renee in Ohio's live journal. (If you have seen the picture, I am the one in front who has flat Howard making 'horns' behind my head, that practical joker.)
Anyway, there we were, more than a dozen of us, many of whom had never met, all acting as if we had known each other for years!
Can any of the other campaigns bring people together like ours can? Well, if they bring some people back into the political system, great, but will they have the courage, resources, will, mousepads, shoeleather, and hope that ours has?
We hold our childrens' future in our hands.
I know its childish, but ya know...
Great House Party - AGi/Kess in Woodland Hills, CA - they are stars...many independants, and republicans (Yes that's right)
See you all in Boston
We want a Gov Dean Post, We want a Gov Dean Post, We want a Gov Dean Post, We want a Gov Dean Post,

Robert Novak is a right wing tool. He's no more than a mouthpiece for the Bu**sh** Administration. He knew full well that printing that article in which he named Joe Wilson's wife as a CIA WMD operative would put her life and her contacts lives in jeopardy. HE KNEW THAT, but printed it anyway. And he gets to skate because the law that prevents disclosure does not apply to reporters. BUT KARMA'S A BITCH BOB. You're an empty suit. When you dry up and blow away I'll be celebrating.
Don't you think that post 9/11 America cares quite a bit about having a candidate that appears strong on national defense and homeland security? We know that Dean does not appear this way to Americans, so why not support a candidate who does? Why not support a candidate who has a real chance of beating George Bush in 2004?

Paging Dr. Dean. Paging Dr. Dean. Call for you on the blog.
Poor W.-he better buy a one way ticket back to Crawford before the airlines raise the cost of a ticket again r/t all of this bogus security.
your aspiring National Nurse
The DNC just called me; I told them I was very unhappy with the DNC and DLC, and with the lack of leadership Terry McAuliffe has shown in failing to call for moderation in the attacks on Dr. Dean. Also said I would be donating only to the Dean campaign until he's the nominee, and declined to renew my membership in the DNC. The caller said a lot of people had been mentioning Dean...
Work does not permit but let's do a MeetUp in Baton Rouge. You bring the New Orleans Krew and I bring the Cajuns. Eventually, we need to work together to give Lousiana to Dean. Keep in touch and happy hunting in Iowa.
I coordinate house parties for Central California, an area large in acres but few people -- it's a predominantly rural area without any major city. So far, our parties raised about $12,500! One party host in Cayucos, California told me this morning that the number of guests at his party is equal to 1% of the total population of the town!
I lost your email address. Can you send it to me? Click my name.

The Washington Times reports that Clay Johnson has sealed all his blog entries from 2002. Some may ask, "what is he hiding"? Keep the blog in the hands of the establishment!!
Before you go whinning again to the DNC. Why is Dean down 8 points in the last NH pole. Oh Boy do you think people are starting to pay attention and now know that Dean (Draft dodger) cannot beat bush. Why has my campaign raised as much as yours in the last quarter? I have only been at this since Mid September.
Gephardt in IA. Clark in NC, NM, AZ and OK. Oops Native Americans for Clark. Gore was the kiss of death for Dean. One has been endorsing another.
This is not over, You liberal Academic losers
Clearly he is unelectable and blogable.
But in honor of our 15 million accomplishment and a great 2003, I thought I'd share my story of the Dean campaign.
Like so many of you, I've never participated in politics before. Sure, I voted, but that was it. I never gave money or time. But ever since we launched pre-emptive war (i.e. terrorism) on Iraq, I've been sick about the state of my country.
Along comes Dean and my husband and I instantly felt connected to something. We felt like we had a voice for the first time since the war started.
In honor of Dean, we had our first house party in July and have since had close to ten house parties--culminating with a very fun and successful New Year party last night!
My husband (bloggers may know him as JK) is a silk screener and he has printed well over 500 t-shirts and sweatshirts for Dean campaign. Many he gives away to local Deaniacs and other Dean leaners that we meet and many he sells on eBay. For him (or me), it's not about the money--it's about getting Dean's name out there.
Both of us take buttons and flyers everywhere we go and if anybody comments on our shirts or buttons, they instantly have a button of their own, some flyers for friends, and a bumper sticker. Between the two of us, I know we are personally responsible for bringing at least 100 people into this campaign.
We were joking the other day that Dean is all we think about it and that Dean is all we talk about. We vowed to have a Dean-free day between the two of us a few weeks back, but it still hasn't happened and I don't think it will.
But the most amazing thing of all--and the thing that really keeps me going--is that when I consider how much effort I've put into this campaign, I know that there are hundreds of thousands of people out there putting just as much, if not more, heart and soul into this.
I'm so proud of ALL OF US. We will take this country back!
Love, Diane
PS. MichaelPH in Ventura, if you're out there, I just wanted to say it was an absolute pleasure meeting you and your wife last night!
Dr. Dean's speeches inspire fill me with optimism and inspire me to contribute my time and money.
The media's lies LIES and more LIES tick me off, and inspire me to contribute time and money to the campaign.
The other democrats and republicrats and Clark with their out of context BS attacks tick me off, and inspire me to contribute time and money to the campaign.
the trolls are mostly ignored, but I have and will continue to be inspired by their foolishness and contribute time and money (troll-goal) to the campaign.
I think I see a pattern here.
Happy New Years HQ!
(A ParrotHead for Dean)
I could swear the bat was only around 14.88 around 3 this afternoon. I thought, ok, we were on pace to sqeak by 15 million by midnight. Now I just got home to find that we've already blown past 15 million!
Dayum. . . we're good.
great post at 5:00 p.m. and congrats on your new job.
Brandon - you are such an inspiration for not just your generation, but for mine, as well!
WHERE'S THE NEXT PRESIDENT TODAY????
WE NEED A LITTLE PUSH...:-)
WE NEED A LITTLE MEDICINE FROM THE DOC!!
SPEECH, PLEASE!!!! (You go ahead and party tonight, Governor...we'll be having a "swinging" time right here!)
Lets keep that bat moving.....I just entered several hundred dollars of offline gifts from my New Year party.....and now I am off to the post office to make sure it has todays post mark.
Isterling is not from the Z camp but is really a paid operative from the other side of the building.
Have the checks from the house parties been added in yet????????
Thx!
Happy new Year everyone!!
As evidenced by Fergie's enthusiastic outcry above- Fashionistas for Dean are unstoppable, resistance is futile!
in both World Wars we were led by Presidents who had not served in the military but had been Gov ernors, Wilson of NJ, and FDR of NY. However, FDR did have experience, in that he had served as undersecretary of the Navy.
Sitting Senators (and House members0 RARELY win the presidency. Since 1900, no sitting House member has won, and only JF Kennedy from the Senatge. yet every single Senator seems to think he is qualified to be President. The former Senators who have been elected President served as Vice President first - for example, those who succeed upon the death of a president such as Truman and Johnson, and those elected on their own later which include Nixon. Additional former governors who did not serve in Congress who became Presidents since 1900 include Coolidge, Carter, Clinton, Regan and the current Bush. Thus on record, since 1900 the best single previous position to prepare one to be a president is to be or have been a governor.
Sitting or former Governors who have been elected
I support this idea 110%, if for no other reason to dispel any rumors from his opponents that HE DOESNT KNOW HOW TO USE A COMPUTER!!!!!!!!!
That would be the death knell for this campaign after promulgating the fact that this is the campaign of the 21st Century.
Do we need evidence that Dean is puter literate..you bet we do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it's the southside socs versus the northside greasers...like in The Outsiders
Lead, (go do something positive for your candidate)
Follow, (come on in, take your coat off and join the revolution)
Or Get Out Of The Way!
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL! 2004 is gonna be a GREAT ONE!
(gotta go home now, wife's awaitin' >;-)
I followed Governor Dean's advice on the conference call last night. I called a cousin who lives in Des Moines, Iowa, whom I hadn't talked with in over ten years. We briefly caught up on family and our lives the last ten years. Then I told her I'm very excited about the Dean campaign. She said she and her husband are totally apolitical and she ignores the calls and mailings from the various Democratic candidates. She said she's for anyone but Bush, and will wait to see who the nominee is. I asked if she had any questions about the candidates or Dean specifically and she said "no".
I then mentioned that I am considering flying to Iowa (leaving my kids with my husband in California) to help the Dean campaign for the caucus weekend. I don't think relatives fly to Iowa for visits all that often, as she seemed excited about it. She offered I could stay at their house (yay-- free housing and a bed!) and she could give me rides to the airport, Dean headquarters, etc. We talked logistics of my trip for a few minutes. Then, she added, "I guess I do have a few questions about Dean." I answered her (mostly foreign policy and homeland security) questions, and she seemed happy with my answers although she didn't make any commitments. I'm hopeful that in my four days at her house I can not only convince her and her husband to support Dean but inspire them to go to the Caucus on January 19!!
I think a cousin calling was way more effective than the strangers who have been calling her over the past month or so. So, please call anyone you personally know in Iowa... even if it's been more than 10 years since you last talked.
RE THE AMERICAN REARCH GROUP NH POLLS:
The old result was from a "regular" poll. The lower results are from new daily *tracking* polls that use a different methodology.
Go to the ARG site and *read.*
The only thing she's afraid of is more of Clay Johnson's foreign policy based on petulance toward the other wing of the office.
I proudly endorse Zephyr Teachout, and urge everyone to dig down DEEP and give to her bat! I'm a former guest blogger here, and it was Zephyr who calmed my nerves when I was freaked out and unsure of what to type. (By the way, you can read my guest blog from 12/13/2003 at http://blog.deanforamerica.com/archives/002679.html)
And let me say something else here: Z is the DIRECTOR of Internet Outreach & Organizing. You don't get to be a Director without knowing a thing or two about the Internet. This ain't no dog-and-pony show, this is Dean for America! Zephyr Teachout has what it takes, and Clay Johnson simply doesn't.
Give to the best. Give to DEMOCRACY!
AMERICANS FOR ZEPHYR!

To Joe, Zephyr, Kate, Mathew, Mark, Joe Rospars and all the others too numerous to mention here, the most heartfelt thanks I can muster. You guys signed on before I did. You signed on when the pundits said "Howard who"? Yes, the Governor's worked harder than any other candidate by far, but without the professional support and advice, we wouldn't be where we are today. Take a bow guys, have a glass of champagne and toast a better year. Special thanks as well, to Al Gore, who had the guts and good judgement to come on board!
2004 is leap year in more ways than one. It's a leap into a hopeful future, it's a leap away from past policies that harm the U.S., the world and all of our citizens. Above all, it's a leap to Howard Dean and a President we can be proud of again. Thanks all 550,000 + of you for making this happen. I never thought at 53, I'd be involved in a campaign, indeed voting was almost a waste of time. No more. Enjoy these few days as on Friday it's back to work. In the meantime, a million thanks yet again and God Bless You All! Churchill never lived to see this and that's a shame as this is "our finest hour"!
The more I thought about the future of our country hanging in the balance, the more I felt obliged to give to the utmost.
So yesterday I kicked in $1800. Today, I wish I could help out with the bat.
The only way I can help US today is to say this:
IT'S NOW OR NEVER, FOLKS!
GIVE TILL IT HURTS. NOT GIVING WILL HURT MORE!
The bigger that bat looks, the more they will respect us. The more they respect us, the more they will investigate us.
And when they come to investigate, THEY WILL JOIN US!
Once they join us, they too will give.
Give the gift that keeps on giving...through attracting others to our cause.
Sorry I didn't put my real name here, but I'm sure there are many, like me, who have given the whole shebang and don't want to advertise that.
Frances (my real middle name)
email isn't correct either (sorry)
Its funny..
Dr. Dean's speeches fill me with optimism and inspire me to contribute my time and money to the campaign.
Bush's smirking face alone is enough to inspire me to give my time and money to the campaign (Don't get me started!)
The media's lies LIES and more LIES tick me off, and inspire me to contribute time and money to the campaign.
The other democrats and republicrats and Clark with their out of context BS attacks tick me off, and inspire me to contribute time and money to the campaign.

Stop supporting Clay, he's not just from the north, he's from the far north. He'll led this blog into the north wilderness!
are any of the campaign staff going to make it downtown to First Night tonight? please, please take JKT down to the fireworks, etc and show him a great time! you all deserve a little time off (just not all at the same time!)
HAPPY NEW YEAR! ;)
sorry should preview
sitting or former governors elected since 1900 are:
Wilson, Coolidge, FDR, Carter Regan Clinton and Bush II
Lawrence H. Framme III, a Richmond lawyer, was joined by four other current or former state party chairmen who support Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry in the presidential nominating contest.
Dean seen as front-runner
"Over the past few weeks, Gov. Dean has spoken before he thought, been forced to retract, apologize for and 'clarify' many of his remarks," the Democratic leaders said.
Framme, chairman of Kerry's campaign in Virginia, was joined by the chairmen of the Montana and Alabama Democratic parties and former chairmen of the North Dakota and Georgia parties.
The five leaders said Dean has reserved judgment on what punishment should be meted out to Osama bin Laden, has attacked the economic policies of former President Bill Clinton and has suggested that the national party intervene to stop his opponents from attacking him.
Framme said the attacks on Dean "will not compare to the onslaught that George Bush and the Republicans will dish out."
Paraphrasing former President Truman's famous statement that "if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen," the five leaders said, "Gov. Dean should take his temperature now."
Dean's remarks hurt the party in states where Republicans have recently done well in presidential elections, the five said.
"We need a nominee who can neutralize the traditional GOP strengths on taxes and national security," they said.
Who made that President Dean page? I've been trying for 3 days to get permission to use it, but the person never writes me back.
hmm...Peter Gabriel is English, right? too bad we can't get his endorsement ;)
Clay Johnson endorsed by "Fashionistas" - believed to be a north side terrorist organization. An unamed source close to Faux Gnus tells us that these Fashionistas are often seen carrying almanacs around the office and cannot be trusted.
In response, John Ashcroft has rasied the Vermount office terrorist alert from Ernie to Elmo. He recommends that all Americans use duct tape to place plastic over their computer monitor, but to continue to keep blogging. "Bloggers are safe, but should be vigilant agains a possible terriorist outbreak" Ashcroft was quoted as saying...
Attention Blogmaster. PLEASE, PLEASE, stop the new practice of posting blog entries in large font. It looks tacky and stupid and detracts from the site. Bigger is NOT better.
I am backing Wes Clark. That is the reason you see me in his commericals awarding him a medal. I would have given one to Dean but we do not give medals for cowards or skiing.
Feb 4th Clark will be in control after Dean loses in IA, SC, AZ, OK and NM. OOps you guys took NH WOW and all 2 electoral votes. Wow you were endorsed by that quitter Al Gore who gave Bush the White House. Boy you cannot be stopped. I will be back on 2/4 to begin telling you I told you so. Dean CANNOT BEAT BUSH. Wake up you liberal Academic type losers.
Carl Rove loves Dean.
We need to donate to a Southside bat to appeal to the NASCAR bloggers.
1) the statement was NOT released today, but several days ago
2) based on the track record of Larry Framme when he was chairman here in the Old Dominion, his endorsement is the equivalent of the kiss of death - ask REAL politicians how badly we did in fundraising and legislative elections dujring his tenure
What's wrong with pleated plants? Did I miss a change in trends?
Thank you, Wolf, for being a refreshing antidote to Bob Novak. Please read on...
Dr. Howard Dean participated in a conference call last evening (Dec. 30) to over 1400 "New Year's Parties for Dean" -- all across America.
People are inspired by Dr. Dean's honesty, his intelligence, and his determination to empower American voters to "take back America" from the disastrous policies and actions of the Bush administration.
How is it that Robert Novak, the enemy of American security who printed the leaked identity of a CIA operative, is still allowed to show his face on CNN? Novak also distorts continually the words and intentions of Dr. Howard Dean. One example is Novak's assertion that Dean says Osama Bin Laden is innocent. This is NOT what Dean has said or meant. He meant that in a Democratic society people are entitled to a system of laws. Dean supported the attack on Al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan because he wants to defeat ACTUAL terrorism, not the hypothetical terrorism of Saddam Hussein's Iraq. Dean is absolutely correct when he says that the U. S. is as dangerous (if not more dangerous) than ever because so many disaffected, fundamentalist Muslims have now joined Al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations in response to the U. S. invasion and occupation of Iraq. The Republicans and Bob Novak prefer rumors and distortions to facts.
Thanks for considering,
Dr. R. J. Wolfe
PS -- My answer to your CNN Poll for today is: "I'm writing letters to Iowans, encouraging them to vote for Howard Dean in the Iowa Primary. After that, I'll write to voters in New Hampshire. Then I'll work for the Washington state caucuses. "Happy Dean Year!"
And, fellow Americans, may we introduce you to your next President of the United States of America, former Governor Howard Dean M.D.?
GO DEAN GO!!
I had planned to wait till 11:45 to toast in the New Year with my last 50$ donation, but you just got half of it now. I have meant to hit your bat for awhile. It is amazing that a 14 year old can make a difference, but it is happening.
Give some love to Brandon guys - he needs about 1,200 to meet his 2,000$ goal. Lets break his bat in the next few minutes! You can find his link near the top of this thread!
What large font are you talking about? To me, it still looks like the painfully small, unreadable font they always have.
I'm in my second childhood and loving every minute of it. I'm lifting a can of diet COKE to toast each and every one of you.
Dean hugs and chug-a-lug ;}
And had Gore won it (thanks Ralph), we wopuldn't have this blog to fill up our time, because he'd be running for reelection.

What do you all think? Should we do an awards night?
Meanwhile, Clay, in my mind, rules the day. LOL.
Claire
KR - wish that could happen....carnival krewes are stricly non-denominational...otherwise, it would be mayhem.
The last thing we need is someone like Clay Johnson coming down to the south office and telling us southerners how we should blog and who's bat we should donate to.
Now I shared that info about the hottitude of Mark in strictest confidence!
I log on the blog and see you go blasting the info all over the durn place.
Now his hat jest won't fit on that hunky head of his!
If Clay wins, I vote for Zephry as VP. And vice-versa.
the fashionistas carrying almanacs...plastic and duct tape over their computers!
This just in to Faux Gnews:
The really disgusting thing is the way Kerry and Gephardt are using Democratic donor's money to make TV ads for Bush right now. You can be sure that the GOP will use those ads against Dean next November. And the other Dems and the DNC are doing nothing to criticize Kerry and Gephardt's backstabbing of their own party. Gephardt is going nowhere in NH, but you notice that Kerry hasn't gone anywhere either: his attack ads don't benefit anyone but Clark, which is what makes me think Kerry is really running for Clark's VP slot. Meanwhile Clark sits grinning like the cat that ate the canary, sending his trolls to annoy us here.
I cannot believe how self-destructive and useless the Democrats are other than Dean.
Give to the best. Give to DEMOCRACY!

Suggestion for future house party conference calls:
I recommend that Governor Dean begin his conference calls with the assumption that most people on the line are undecided or Dean leaners. His first few minutes on the call last night sounded like they were intended for hard-core Deaniacs. That might have been appropriate for many of the party hosts, but I'm pretty sure most of the guests don't fit that description. I'm a state house party coordinator, and most of the party hosts told me they had people who were new to the campaign or undecided as guests. Two of the hosts made this suggestion to me to pass on for future house party conference calls.
Nonetheless, I think the vast majority of the guests who were undecided left the parties as Dean supporters or at least strong Dean leaners.
If someone on staff could pass this on to Governor Dean, that would be great. Thanks!

Hello. Testing. Testing. 1, 2, 3. Can anybody else see my posts, or am I the only one reading them?
Does anyone think that we can take the contributions "since Dec 23" all the way up to 2 million??????
We could really show the "in-side o crats" or "Bush-lite o crats" or whatever they are that they can't hold a candle to our campaign!!!!!
what do you think?
Oh dear, hon.. In my exuberance I never asked permission. Should I have? It states one can download it and doesn't seem to request permission.
If I remember correctly, I think I got it off this blog yesterday. Sorry, Linda, I wish I could be more specific.
It does not matter what Dean says, all news is good news for Howard Dean.
Everyone is talking about what Howard Dean is talking.
Bush talk, Democratic candidate talk. All of their talk is about Dean talk!
Get hip to the talk! Start talking the talk of Howard Dean. But remember, only he and his 500,000 grass roots supporters can walk the walk!
Everyone else gets blistered!
I LOVE the idea of the First Annual Dean Blog Awards...
How FUN would THAT be?!
Wonder if HQ is reading??? Hmmm....
But as Vermont governor, Dean had an energy task force that met in secret and angered state lawmakers.
Back then he said:
"The governor needs to receive advice from time to time in closed session. As every person in government knows, sometimes you get more open discussion when it's not public," Dean was quoted as saying.
Check it out:
http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/12/28/elec04.prez.dean.energy.ap/
He attacks his opponent for something, then it turns out he did the same exact thing. ‘Nuff said on Deans’ character and credibility. BTW- How many of you Deaniacs have jumped the administration for the "secret" meetings? Are you gonna come up with some excuse for your guy now, or will you show some sack and admit he's wrong?
And, it's so nice to be seen! LOL
~John :)
Great race going on there in Burlington, folks - but perhaps the Dean National Committee needs to step in to keep it clean. And now I really do have to turn my attentions away from blogging, entertaining and illuminating though it may be, and do something productive for a while.

GuyZ - ROTFLMAO!
And Matthew, Zeph, Clay - you have been so entertaining today! Now I just don't know who's side I'm on anymore! You are incredibly creative with your different 'wings' at HQ: (this is part of Clay's post...)
"Some people are gonna tell you I flip flop, but I'm the only candidate who's been against the unilateralist intervention on the blog from the beginning.
"Zephyr Teachout, Mark Sundeen, and Matt Gross and the Boys supported this oppression from the beginning."
"At the end of the day, you blog readers must ask yourselves, do you want a fundraiser who is interested in making sure your voice is heard, or one that supports unilaterial preemption on the blog?"
"Join me and the 23 other Americans in the great grassroots revolution inside the great grassroots revolution. Keep this bat going."
"The great lie blogging insiders like Matt Gross will tell you is "Meet 15 million dollars and we're all right"
*************************************************
OK - I'm now on everyone's side - we must stop this infighting! We do not want to look like those Bushlite Dems now do we? LOL
I love our webteam! Once again, YOU ALL ROCK.
And yes, the motion was made, it's been seconded, thirded, fourthed and fifthed: WE WANT DEAN!
GO DEANIACS GO!! We have the power to bring Dr. Dean to our blog...
Scarletfire: as a woman of some experience in judging male attributes, I just have one thing to say...it is the tuffies that prompt further interest....
I have heard uncorroborated rumors that Karl Rove wants Matt Gross to win the bat wars. He is drooling over the possibility that Mat will win this election and that Matt will run for the batta of the year. Then Rove can secretly cork Matt's bat and have him go down in history as a low-down bat corker!
Mathew Gross!!!
Check out his page...his bat is the largest of all, approximately $3,900 as of now I believe. That says something about a man...what I'm not exactly sure...maybe he's popular and loved!
And he's a hottie to boot!! So let's not get sidetracked by the young up and comers Mark and Clay...who know, they may be peaking too soon. Mat however has stood the test of time!!
Z's in it for us.
Give to the best. Give to DEMOCRACY!
AMERICANS FOR ZEPHYR!

Now wait a John Effing Kerry minute here guys...
Only someone with a click to their photo can enter this competion... RIGHT GUYS?
And, yes, you men can enter also.
Matt's entry is: ta ta raahhhh: ZEPHYR TEACHOUT
Another chug-a-lug and a Dean Hug (diet pepsi)
tee hee hee
the last gasp of a member of the sinking titantic..boy voyage...we will miss you.
Then, I was tempted to go with the "safe" choice: Matt Gross. He's steady. Nothing flashy. Just a good roll-up-your-sleeves-and-get-to-work kinda guy, who's there day in and night out blogging his ass off. I also heard that his daddy worked in the mill, drove a milk truck, and moved his family 34 times before Matt was 12 years old, and I figured that he must be a man of the people.
Then there was Kate O'Connor. I looked, but couldn't even find a bat. I tried to call her, but she was on the phone. Go figure.
Joe "Winter in Aspen" Rospars was my next choice--that was until I heard from Clay Johnson. Clay spoke to me. He said that he was tired of being divided by the Muffin-Buscuit line, and that the
"Biggest lie that people like me tell people like you, is that if you swing my bat, I will solve all your blogging problems." He said, "The power to blog is in your hands, not mine." I knew then that "I had heard the Future of Blogging, and that his name is Clay Johnson."
So for Clay Johnson, who has risen not unlike a phoenix from the ashes of Zephyr's, Matt's, and Joe's burnt bats, I shall swing a couple hundred times, and blow out the dying embers of those he has left in his path to Blogging Greatness.
B'sides, anyone who can walk around Burlington with a non-Yankee name like Clay is all right in my book.

Actually he does...see the former governor's own words: www.deanfacts.com

and Gary Kiser.....RIGHT ON!!!
Great Idea you guys
I nominate Renee, Chelle & Joe in VT, to be added to the list of favorite blogers.
I nominate: "WE HAVE THE POWER," to be added to favorite sayings.
What was the third thing??
I haven't seen anyone talk so straightfoward and honest in a long time. In fact, the last time I heard a person show strong signs of leadership like Clay was roughly 20 hours ago on a conference call. I mean really...20 whole hours ago! So for Clay to come into my life and take on the blog establishment when no one else would...well how could I NOT support that?? All the other bloggers are so..."thank you for the information Zephyr" or "you were so great on C-SPAN Matt" or "Gee Joe, how great is it for you to stay late" blah blah blah. See what I mean? Clay is the only one with the courage to finally stand up to these people! We have the power!!!!
Mr. Trippi - we just came home from Whole Foods...our 3 person family had planned to celebrate with a good beef roast for New Year's. But we were afraid to eat anything but an organic roast and the price on that one was $18 a pound. So my husband suggested that we get something else on sale instead and "send Joe Trippi $60 to help Howard". So that's what we've done and will continue to do. God-willing, my daughter will be in New Hampshire working to support Dr. Dean for the primary. You all have our best wishes for the coming New and Great Year.
JJ
Thanks so much Garry for that huge bat whack of $1,000.00
Gee, hope that fake repub impersonating our good doctor comes back... tee hee hee
What I want to know...what I want to know...is why has the good doc. made me, a sane an educated man, a wildly enthusiastic supporter of the governor of a small state? I admit my obsession: I love the guy. He is good and decent and finally the democrat I've wanted to support for my entire life. I've maxed out on contributions, have an entire dean-themed wardrobe and talk to everyone about him. Only now, are the Washington insiders considering that this candidate may be forming America's first, authentic grassroots campaign whose success can only be explained when the good Doc. becomes #44.
Mission Accomplished! I got you to contribute $1000 to the man who will GIVE the election to my favorite war hero (Iraq War), George W Bush. Ha Ha Ha!!!
Thank you for helping ensure that the Great President George W Bush is reelected in November.
Thank you for your support!
I think the other John Morgan's idea is tremendous! All the guys should pose in a pair of speedos! May the best man win. Sorry, Zephyr.
Hey Bill, Dean didn't go hide to Canada. At least he told the truth.
I have been rejoicing over the $15,000,000 plus bat and I was discussing this with my son. He suggested that perhaps big donors have contributed large amounts of dollars which are included in the total. Is this true? How does the total figure break down? I feel that the bat should include only those of us who contribute what we can afford, and which is, for the most part, small potatoes. I am a widow on a fixed income and I feel strongly about governor Dean. I have contributed $25.00 from December until July and I want to know that this is counted separate from the "big bucks." Please let me know. Thank you.
