Look at All the Progress We're Making

McClatchy reports on the "final warning" issued by Muqtada al Sadr:

Renegade cleric Muqtada al Sadr on Saturday issued a "final warning" to the Iraqi government, threatening an open-ended "war until liberation" if U.S. and Iraqi troops don't stop their offensive against followers of his militant Shiite Muslim movement.

Sadr's threat signals his growing fury with the joint U.S.-Iraqi offensive against his strongholds in Baghdad's Sadr City and in the volatile southern port city of Basra. Such a rebellion would end Sadr's eight-month-old ceasefire, which was widely credited - even by U.S. military officials - with curbing violence in Baghdad and throughout the Shiite south. The U.S.-backed Iraqi military continued its two-front attack Saturday against the Mahdi Army and other outlaws, retaking government buildings from militiamen in Basra while waging fierce gun battles in the densely packed slums of Sadr City.

I just read that Joe Scarborough is losing it over Barack's *brush the dirt off* routine. Could he be any more out of touch - dare I say *elitist*? I used to like Joe until the the country discovered Rev. Wright and he went all Republican-kooky.

Todd Beeton (Clinton supporter) live-blogged for My DD at Barack's rally in Philly last night. He forgot to mention 40K attended.

I turned to CSPAN to see Obama's rally, unfortunately she was still on, immediate mute button.  Not trying to be rude but her crowd all look like a bunch of stiffs with constipation.

I hope the full moon brings a bit of love and laughter to you all today - from reading the last thread, it looks like it was pulling on the cranial fluid just a bit too much last night!

as our dear friend thankful often says, kindness is free.  it can be tough to be kind sometimes, it's always worth the effort.  ;)

joe scarborough wuold have been laughing his butt off if Hillary did the 'brush off'.  he's simply another republican hack who's getting nervous now that he thinks Obama might really win this.

this has been a long 7+ years of Bush - we progressive types have been beaten, battered and bruised.   but then, too, it's the attacks from the inside which have badly bruised our hope.

the dem 'powers that be' dashed our hopes in 2004 when they turned on Howard.  they hurt us in the way it hurts when a family member turns on you.  they surely wiped away any political naivete we may have possessed

they're trying to do it again.

I feel, but obviously can't know, that a lot of the concern here about Obama is a natural fear that comes with the letdown we exerienced when Howard was 'finished off'.  how can we 'hope'again when we've seen what will happen?  how can we, the people, actuallly win one this time?

well, maybe we won't.  but we certaily won't if we don't try.  and 'settling' by putting them both on the ticket is a sure loser, imo.  it does NOT bring together the two sides of this divide - it just prolongs and deepens the resentment for whoever ends up on the lower end of the ticket.

HOPE, not fear!  (thank you Howard)

It's best not to entangle oneself with those who look at the rest of us those who need to take steps.

It's a different path they need to take and the respectful ones don't foist it on others.
