The Democratic Party represents the values we need!

Written by: Charles Harker on Mar 4, 2008 2:59 PM EST

The country is clearly heading in a bad way. From the economy to our reliance on foreign oil, a lowering of the standard of living. We must energize and try to act on the ideas we need to right our way. The Democrats can lead the country back to prosperity.

Dean is first.

Early March 4 Exit Poll results:

"The surveys for The Associated Press and television networks found self-described independents were about one in five voters in Ohio's Democratic primary, one in four in Texas, a third in Rhode Island and four in 10 in Vermont."

20% independent voters in Ohio
25% in Texas
33% in Rhode Island

Not paying much attention to these pundits all pretending to have crystal balls tonight.

Senator Bill Nelson was on the Senate floor again today badmouthing the DNC and explaining the big problems in Florida -- as if the other senators didn't already know about them. Nelson blamed all the problems on the DNC.

Surprise! Obama wins Vermont! Kudos to all you DFAers up there helping his cause along.

Hi all.

Linda in NM, this is a quote from your myDD link:

"We can argue whether her words were well-chosen and whether she should be advancing arguments against Obama in the primary that McCain can use against him in the general if he's the nominee, I get that, but the idea that this is somehow Clinton betraying Democrats and expressing a preference for the Republican over the Democrat is ridiculous."

We certainly can and will argue that she is advancing arguments against her own party. It's as plain as it can be. I am not a Hillary-basher here. She crossed a line. Big-time.

Dems win w/absentee balloting.

Already cast weeks in advance.

 Voting is pragmatic.  Nuts-n-bolts.

Esp. w/inexperienced & infrequent unenrolled voters & new (young) voters.

And persons of color (lower SES folks w/shift work/children//disenfranchised).

They drive along, see lines, and go home.

Rethugs are more disciplined.

Esp. in nasty weather, when attempting to elect a more progressive candidate.

Once precincts close, it's another headache--too late to vote.

You can still socialize while being a poll warden/watcher, Reed.

And hit the pub afterwards, too.

Older retired voters have time to fritter away; and have a routine when they vote (those Hillary women).

It's how we win squeaker races here; and the Rethugs have us beat (general)--Dems spend too much damned time in useless meetings/on the phone, etc.

Obama never wouldn've won ME's caucus if conveners hadn't started 1-3 hrs. late--dumb people hadn't pre-registered. Insane.

Get those votes CAST well in advance  is the name of the game.

Hi,

This a quote from the Associated Press.  In Ohio, the NAFTA/Canadian dirty trick is getting sway.

"NAFTA was a focus of the Ohio race.

Obama sent out mass mailings that said Clinton had supported the free trade agreement when it was passed during her husband's administration, and that he had opposed it. She angrily accused him of distorting her record.

But roles were reversed in the campaign's final hours after a memo surfaced in which a Canadian official described a meeting in which Obama's senior economic adviser was said to have described the Illinois senator's criticisms of the trade agreement as political positioning.

Clinton said Obama had given a "wink-wink" to Canada on the issue.

Obama said, "Nobody reached out to the Canadians to try to assure them of anything."

HRC: 35,000+

Travis County:
BO: 63,000
HRC: 33,000

Dallas County
BO: 81,000

Every network is showing 700,000 votes counted in Texas, 56-43 Obamab.  But they all report this is wiith 1% reporting.  this is total BS , if 700,00 vote is 1% that would mean 70,000,000 votes were cast.  There are only 280,000,000 millions americans total.  This is ridiculous but all of the networks have it wrong.

Update [2008-3-4 19:12:24 by Jonathan Singer]: The key number in Vermont seems to me 64 percent. If Obama can get about 64 percent in Vermont tonight, the delegate spread would be 10 to 5 rather than 9 to 6 -- a net gain of 2 delegates for Obama. I don't think Obama will be able to hit 70 percent, which would yield an 11 to 4 spread, but if he could hit that 64 percent mark it could potentially mean that Obama would net as many delegates from Vermont as Clinton will from Ohio

Hey Phil,
The next time you're passing thru this area...please be sure to give me a jingle (April/early May excellent for walleyes).

I'm proud of me fellow free thinking Vermonters...only wish the rest of the country would follow suit. Watching the polls and hoping for that 64% but don't think it'll happen. Still too many racists lurking about. I'm also dreading that Hillary will drag the party down in her pursuit of the oval office. Tonight I talked to the one responsible for all the Hillary signs in our area. Something wasn't right...I felt very uneasy talking with this fellow Democrat...like I was the enemy.

CLINTON ON THE SMEAR TRAIL - CHARGES BUT NO EVIDENCE

From NBC's Mark Murray

In an extraordinary Clinton conference call -- in which the campaign alleged irregularities in the Texas caucuses -- the top lawyer for the Obama campaign (Bob Bauer) jumped on the call during the Q&A session to rebut the Clinton camp's charges....

Minutes later, the Clinton campaign pointed out that Bauer never refuted the actual charges of irregularities in Texas.

It's also worth noting that the campaign cited irregularities in precincts 18 and 24 in Harris County (regarding the seizure of precinct chairman materials), as well as precincts 1851 and 75 in the same country (regarding Clinton supporters being locked out). But the campaign offered no evidence beyond that.
