Post-Debate Thread

Written by: DFA Staff on Feb 26, 2008 10:00 PM EST

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama had a lively debate in Ohio.

The New York Times live blogged the debate.

The Washington Post ran a debate fact check.

No biggie Paine - it's nice to have someone real time, given the hour out there back east.

Now both are bending over for Israel. BO "special friend" and "the security of Israel is sacrosanct." I think I spelled that incorrectly

==============================

Hillary's "anti-Israel" verbology reeks of overkill.

Does she mean anyone who criticizes Israel is "anti-Israel?"

Analogous to the right wing in this country calling the anti-war protesters "anti-American?"

They'll protest the right wing here, then condone human rights abuses in Israel, that no American would tolerate here - not since Jim Crow and the Indian Wars, anyway.

Howard Dean was on CNN just before the debate. I heard less than a minute of it. After Dean left, the interviewer said that it would be interesting to see whether Obama dismisses Howard Dean and apologizes to McCain.

Anyone know more about what that was about?

How cool - just heard on the ABC evening news that North Korea has invited Eric Clapton to play there - now that is extraordinary.

Glad they are recognizing another genre for another generation - w00t!

The son of the doting father (the leader of North Korea) is a big fan of Eric Clapton, so that's how Clapton got the invite.

I used to really like Hillary, but now she seems like a whining little baby.

Her crack about her being asked the first questions was bullshit...she stole the first question...typical "I'm the victim" behavior that we do not need in our President.

Finally, the last 10-15 minutes it started working right.

One other comment. Everybody has a friend who always has to *one up* you. IMO, that's Hillary's persona. It's just annoying as heck to me.

All right, Danny. Someone's paying attention!

Obama had a good debate, Clinton not so good. She actually looked to me like she was sinking and knew it. Obama turned every gotcha question into something substantive.

The real losers were the moderators who asked very few substantive questions on topics that matter to the American people. Who cares about mailings and endorsements. Get real, Timmy and Brian.

When asked who's the better speaker, Jesse Jackson or Barack Obama, Jesse said without flinching, "Barack". That doesn't come easy from the gifted orator!

Some snark about Carville.  He is so irritating.   He has no idea why there is such a huge primary turnout.   Just clueless.

Maybe that living room of theirs just hurts his thinking processes.

Still looking for a recap of what Howard said.

Meantime, let me be blunt. Hillary Clinton isn't presidential material and she proved that tonight.

If she gets the nomination, I'll vote for Nader. And I really have no interest in voting for Nader so that tells you the strength of my feelings about her.

If she thinks the media is out to get her, how does mocking them advance her cause? Childish!

I agree with mary vb.  When Hill talks policy and about her experience and what she's done to help others, she's superb.

BO obviously knew next to nothing about Putin's successor.  He changed the subject quickly.

He doesn't have the foreign policy knowledge that she has.  That's clear.

I like it when she's cheeky.  I like all women who don't *behave* well.  They don't make history.  I like it when she spoofs him.

Yes, Karen, we heard the same debate, but I was hearing it w/o the Obamania filter.  :-)

She won, IMO, but perhaps not enuf to stop the advancing waves of adoring supporters.

He did OK, but the word ambivalent came up and that's the word I've been looking for.  He doesn't seem to take strong stands and now he's hedging on the public funding issue .. wants to wait and talk with McCain.  This feels unclean to me.

Questions were lightweights.  I wanted to hear about the unitary executive and the Constitution.

Dodd could be an excellent choice for VP.

Broken record? Me?  BO was plagerizing his own past speeches tonight.  LOL
