What ever happened to.....

Written by: Eric Arens on Nov 12, 2007 10:05 PM EST

I am always wondering things that have occurred over the last 7 years, that we never hear much about any more, yet they are events that we should have answers to.

My first is: What ever happened to the FBI's Anthrax investigation after it turned out that the Anthrax sent was a strain developed in the US.

My second is: What ever happened to Dick Cheney when he refused to turn over security documents, stating that he was not part of the Executive Branch.

My 3rd: Where are all the video tapes taken by the FBI from all the local business and buildings  after the plane (?) crashed into the Pentagon on 9-11?

Here is an opportunity for us to discuss and recall all the things that the media wants us to forget, but really are part of what has been going on by this administration. Can you think of things thaqt have been "swept under the rug"? Oh, one more, What ever happened to the weapons of mass destruction?

I have wondered what happened to all of that gold bouillon that was found in Iraq when we first went in? Was it "laundered" and sent to hang out to dry at the RNC?

Hope Howard Dean had a nice birthday.

I also hope that people stop talking about Ron Paul as the 08 Howard Dean.  That is beyond stupid, it shows people have no clue of the vast differences.

Oliver Willis: Ron Paul is NOT the 08 Howard Dean....Stormfront supporting Paul.

Nice firstie Audrey,

What about all the billions of dollars that was reported to be "lost" in Iraq?

What about all the millions of dollars that can't be accounted for by the Homeland Security Dept?

There has been so many things long forgotten about because so many other things happened after them. Was this by the Bush Admin. design?

This has been an unusually quiet day on the blog.

Why don't we ask all of the candidates to do everything in the power of the presidency, including the "bully Pulpit", to take away the health ins. of Cong. and their administration if the critters don't get the people the same coverage that they have. Edwards did, Kucinich would. Let's hear it from the rest. There really is no arrogance comparable to those critters coming up with plans for us that don't meet the benefits of their own. They are special some how. I think I'll fire them.

Audrey, Dennis and Mike are the only "Real" Democrats in the running this year; but the DLC, the Democratic Establishment, and many GFA bloggers will continue to ridicule them, and the Dems will nominate an "electable" DINO, who might win anyhow, considering the Rethug loser who will oppose him/her.

PROGRESSIVE/LIBERAL BLOGS

http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_w__chris_071117_a_short_and_sweet_th.htm

Here is the collective American consciousness and here we can chat and criticize and inspire each other. Here we have internet "town hall meetings" and its win/win for America.

Yes, sometimes you get whacked (sometimes "I" certainly get whacked), but, hey, isn't that just a symptom of being in an extended political family?

Most of all I want to thank the folks who came up with the bucks and brains to start and maintain these sites. When I'm not too busted (Bush's taxes are murder), I contribute from time to time, and to all the rest of you who contribute, you have the thanks of us all.

I also want to thank the Americans who passionately respond to a submission, because that too is win/win for us all. It's takes time to submit, just as it takes time to respond, and I've learned more from your responses (certainly not just to my ponderings) than I ever thought possible.

So I guess I'll just make a total fool of myself and say I love you people. I love you (and I really do) because for all our different takes on this or that, we all of deeply love this country to the max. God bless America, indeed, and God bless all Americans who love America.

And one last time, God bless those individuals who made and make the sacrifices to keep these sites functional. I can only guess at your sacrifices and commitments, but please, please go to sleep at night knowing your sites are America's lifelines.

Lastly, I still remember what it was like 4 or so years ago when all we had for "news" was Fox Snooze propaganda and similar bought and paid for fascist trash -- and how terribly painful those memories are!

But now, that's dead and buried and those journalist traitors have become increasingly comic and it's just a matter of time before their accountants start pointing out that propaganda no longer pays. Business will have the last laugh, and the programs (and anchors) will go to where most the audience (i.e., money) is, and THAT'S US.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Nov. 18

Saudi Arabia also wanted to highlight a new emphasis on protecting the environment by announcing the establishment of a $750 million fund to reduce carbon emissions. The kingdom will contribute $300 million for research into technology that captures carbon spewed by power plants or refineries and stores it underground. In addition, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar will provide $150 million each.

Oil producers see climate policies that focus on oil consumption as an unfair way to curb the use of fossil fuels worldwide. By financing research into carbon emissions, Saudi Arabia says it is seeking ways to extend the use of petroleum resources at a time when global warming could lead to changes in consumer behavior in Western countries.

“We want to continue using fossil fuels while protecting the environment,” said Mohammad al-Sabban, a senior Saudi government adviser on climate change. “What we are worried about is for industrialized countries to use climate policy as a pretext to discriminate against oil.”

Other ministers also expressed the more moderate views that typically emerge from an OPEC meeting. Despite Mr. Ahmadinejad’s statement about oil prices being paltry, officials from several other countries — including the United Arab Emirates, Nigeria and Saudi Arabia — said that prices were too high.

“We are going down uncharted territory, and everyone should be cautious,” said Odein Ajumogobia, Nigeria’s oil minister, referring to the current prices.

Via Marc Ambinder, the University of Nevada student who asked the "diamonds or pearls?" question last night says CNN made her do it. On her MySpace page, the student, Maria Luisa, says she's been getting angry emails about the question. She really wanted to ask about Yucca Mountain and nuclear waste, but since the candidates had already discussed that somewhat, they wanted her to go with one of the more "lighthearted" questions she had been asked to come up with.
Every single question asked during the debate by the audience had to be approved by CNN. I was asked to submit questions including "lighthearted/fun" questions. I submitted more than five questions on issues important to me. I did a policy memo on Yucca Mountain a year ago and was the finalist for the Truman Scholarship. For sure, I thought I would get to ask the Yucca question that was APPROVED by CNN days in advance.

And:

CNN ran out of time and used me to "close" the debate with the pearls/diamonds question. Seconds later this girl comes up to me and says, "you gave our school a bad reputation.' Well, I had to explain to her that every question from the audience was pre-planned and censored. That's what the media does. See, the media chose what they wanted, not what the people or audience really wanted. That's politics; that's reality. So, if you want to read about real issues important to America--and the whole world, I suggest you pick up a copy of the Economist or the New York Times or some other independent source. If you want me to explain to you how the media works, I am more than happy to do so. But do not judge me or my integrity based on that question.

Ah, old media pushes smart, young college student to perpetuate the inanity of their debates, and the student uses new media to push back. A beautiful story, really.

As for the "exceptional" cases of usage of his governmental benefits, it should be known for now that he IS THE ONLY Congressman who IS NOT using several of his own benefits assigned to him by law as to the member of Congress.

Let's see...the Pentagon...probably the most secure building in the world with cameras capturing everything from every angle. Forget about the confiscated videos, why don't they just show the videos they have of what actually hit the Pentagon? The time lapse single frame stuff they released is worse quality than a 7-11 store...what did they use way back in 2001, 8mm? lol...why don't they just release the videos and put this to bed?

Uhhhh.... for the 'sake ' of and 'in memory' of all those lost on the plane into the Pentagon, those lost in the planes that hit the Twin Towers; those in the Twin Towers ...and those down in a field in Pennsylvania:    WE NEED ALL THE FACTS, a complete and thorough investigation.  We OWE it to them.   WE need  to know how they flew those planes that well, the angles, the speed...WE need to know if it really was a group of inexperienced terrorists or - that someone has fooled us.  Our government does make mistakes, as we've seen.  Perhaps, even another major enemy government was involved -  I could name a few.  In which case==== we're still in danger!

I am quite sure that ALL the people lost that day would want us to look into every aspect of it.   I know that many many of their families still have questions;  which are not answered by HOW DARE YOU ask questions!   THAT is disrepect.   Millions of Americans and people everywhere - still question.  And we still hurt.  The RIGHT answer is - we're still looking into it.  The WRONG answer to any of us is - HOW DARE YOU ask questions.  Makes us all wonder even more.

There is a shot of the plane going into the Pentagon from ground level.   There is NO REASON that our government, with it's sophisticated technology  couldn't  slow that puppy down and let us SEE  the plane hitting the building.  Is there?  Why won't they show us the REAL plane going into the building?

There are obviously a lot of reasons why so many Americans (and millions of people around the world)  question this entire event.  ONE:   Trusting our government 'completely' - is out of the question and not a good idea.   TWO:  Pristine wallets with the terrorists drivers license inside, found on the pavement below the totally disintegrated tower.  THREE:  EVERY plane that flew near our capital (or Pentagon) for years - was intercepted.   What happened?     And yeah - something is wrong with that Tower 7 building 'collapse'.   I guess it's "don't believe your own lying eyes - believe this proven lying government."?

BEFORE criticizing Ron Paul on personal grounds especially on him is "benefited" by the government he is principally against, it is better to learn some factual information:

http://www.house.gov/paul/bio.htm
A biography Of the Honorable Ron Paul
Member of Congress, 14th District of Texas

..........
Dr. Paul's consistent voting record prompted one Congressman to comment that "Ron Paul personifies the Founding Fathers' ideal of the citizen-statesman. He makes it clear that his principles will never be compromised, and they never are." Another Congresswoman added that "There are few people in public life who, through thick and thin, rain or shine, stick to their principles. Ron Paul is one of those few."
--------------------------

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Paul
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

..........
They have five children….Ronnie, Lori, Rand, Robert, and Joy....Three children are also doctors:[18] Robert specializes in family practice, Joy in ob/gyn like her father, and Rand in eye surgery, in Bowling Green, Kentucky.....

Paul supported his children during their undergraduate and medical school years, preventing their participation in federal student loans because the program was taxpayer-subsidized. He has rejected a Congressional pension for the same reason.[21][22]
..........
His practice refused Medicare and Medicaid payments; he worked pro bono, arranged discounted or custom-payment plans for needy patients,[22] or otherwise "just took care of them."[35]

About the debates....

I listened for three or four days when FOX, MSNBC and even CNN kept repeating "they HAVE to go after her...they HAVE to attack her...it's got to be fireworks!"....  and I wondered who would fall for it.   They just want ratings.   I was really disheartened when I heard Edwards and Obama do just that.  I mean, we're used to hearing those sort of things from Republicans, but I still like to think we're somewhat above it.   Many in the audience agreed.   They could have said something great about themselves......  And, they're supposed to be 'very nice guys' - the peoples' guys.  NOT to mention that it was 'two on one' --- not very American.

And the set up by Novak was totally obvious.  Doesn't anyone remember who he IS?   and he got away with it.  I think he was after Hillary - but he got Obama with the richochet....

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) Sunday:  Three U.S. soldiers killed – and  three Iraqi children, seven injured by roadside bomb..  as they gathered around American troops handing out toys, police and government officials told CNN. http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/11/18/iraq.main/index.html

That’s 29 soldiers killed in 17 days.   Bush appluading the PROGRESS and only 38 U.S. deaths in October.(in Iraq)  At this rate there will be more than 60 killed in November.

There is a shot of the plane going into the Pentagon from ground level.   There is NO REASON that our government, with it's sophisticated technology  couldn't  slow that puppy down and let us SEE  the plane hitting the building.  Is there?

after the eboard meeting ended today, i drove down to santa monica. i just wanted to hang out at the beach for a while. i'm down here for 2 more days to work.

anyway, on the north side of the pier the vets for peace have placed one cross for every californanian killed in iraq and afganistan and visual displays for iraquis killed/maimed/displaced along side photos, biographical info, etc., of all the servicemen/women above.

very visual, very to the point, very well done with taste and dignity. this is worth driving down there.

i talked with some of the vets and shared stories and experiences. you always come home when you find yourself with other vets.

Of course!
ANY campaign that (even potentially) threaten the government must end. Either it is the Dean's campaign in 2004 or Paul's campaign today.

Btw, don't you think that Gore refusal to enter the race was for one only reason: not been willing to lead the dying institution?

94 children of those passengers have been without mom or dad for over 6 years now.

More than 94,000 Iraqi children are without parents because of Bush's Big Lie. But compared to the Iraqi children who have died from bush's aggression, they're the lucky ones.

All of you NeoCon nutjobs should be made to eat your own excrement.

the eboard meeting of the california democratic party was a racous event. all the way to the end.

barbara, i saw your post on the earlier thread. small steps forward just like he surf hitting a rock cliff shows no change in the minute by minute, but ultimately crumbles the rock itself. i'm, personally, not discouraged at not having an immediate perfect world. it'll take time to create "our normalcy" in the minds of the general public in our country. when that time comes, and it will, we'll have the momentum to make the changes of a generation. the idea to keep in mind in/for the future, is that we never win the fight, only the skirmish. standing steadfast at the front to fight for human and democratic rights in all of its facets is forever the battle.

sorry for all the war metaphors, but i got caught up in myself.

Dr. Paul's consistent voting record prompted one Congressman to comment that "Ron Paul personifies the Founding Fathers' ideal of the citizen-statesman.

If you want to get out of Iraq and take America back to the18th century, vote Paul.

If you want to get out of Iraq and take America into the 21st century, vote Kucinich.

Chiming in on the passenger list.  Has anybody ever called any of these people and talked with family members?  How do we know the names aren't fabricated?

Sorry, but I remain very very skeptical.  The FBI confiscated all private vids of the crash.  Now why would it do that unless there was something to hide?

Imn2 -- the 'press' is afraid to ask questions...

Condi and the State Department have an ‘answer’ so Blackwater may not kill so many innocent people and can stay in Iraq...maybe: Green flashy things.

The State Department has a high-tech solution to keeping its security contractors from killing any more Iraqi civilians unnecessarily: laser dazzlers, which temporarily blinds its targets, with pulses of green laser light) --and helmet cameras!   http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2007/11/lasers-helmet-c.html

GIVE me a break!   Green flashy thingy’s ?  I mean, they’d have to be able to see the ‘enemy’s head’ so they could blind them with it -right?  And couldn’t the ‘enemy’ follow the laser back like a pointing arrow to the source and shoot him?  And the guy pointing his helmet camera at him to RECORD the incident, too.   HOW much money are we going to be paying for these things?  Sounds like a real Bush State Deparment answer alright.

why do so many wish, no advocate, for an end to this experiment in democracy before its run its course? you people are beyond anything i can imagine. and what, some sort of rational anarchy takes its place? as much as i wished it were possible (rational anarchy,) you guys are wishing for something so far beyond what, i believe, you are ready to deal with that it is comical that you actually want it.

keep on. its your choice and right, in a democracy, to aire these views.

ms. kucinich addressed the general assembly yesterday. she's articulate and well spoken. i can't help but remark, thought, that toward the end of her talk, not speech, she devolved to the same platitudes that dennis engages in. i have zero faith that even if dennis were to be elected president that he could actually do the things he advocates. there's just no proof beyond his ego.

I'm not so sure!

Kucinich IS the decent person, who NEVER pointed to the Government as to the one of major tools to preserve status quo of current system!

In his set of principles Government is the agent for change DESPITE of the reality that proves to the contrary for decades!

Under these conditions whose principles are "bad" and whose are "good"?

Time only will tell.

Which of them will implement their platitudes? In fact, it's guarenteed that whichever of the "viable" Dems secures the nomination, she or he will immediately abandon the primary platitudes and start talking like a Republican (remember Kerry going to that 24K per plate DLC fundraiser and assuring them that he was no "redistributionist" Democrat?).

Based on his voting record and record as Mayor of Cleveland -- refusing to sell the public utilities to private companies under threat of blackmail -- he'll be more likely to at least try to implement the things he advocates.

The fact is, only Kucinich has the record and rhetoric that matches what the vast majority on this blog espouse -- and that's why he won the pulse poll.

You're talking Republican government. Since they can't eradicate all the good changes Democrats made in the middle of the 20th century, Reeps have done all they can to undermine the good of government by making it untrustworthy, inefficient, and unreliable and therefor discredited. (but of course the War Dept, the most wasteful of all, is exempted.)

Bushboy is the consumate agent of that credo. Paul would now come in and throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Not, I'm talking either Government.

Reps is managing to REGULARLY "undermine the good of government" and "therefor discredited...it" BECAUSE THERE ARE PLENTY of REASONS for that to be TRUE!

The same is TRUE when situation becomes opposite and another Party is in power and forming another Government!

Government and People ARE different entities, having different interests!

You're right about Kucinich. He is very determined and a fighter and truly one from common roots, he lives it and doesn't forget it.

I do think that if his message could reach the average voter out there, he would win. But how? I wrote Russert today about his not having been on his show, but my e-mail was returned. I can't seem to find the right address. He has put up an on line TV station.

I hope nobody minds if I comment on the actual topic brought up in this entry. :-)

I'm glad to see that somebody else is realizing that there are a LOT of unanswered questions. I feel like our country was so shocked by the avalanche of bad things happening starting with the _S_election of Bush in 2000, that many important issues have been swept under the rug. I think we need to go back and look at our recent history, because so much that the Bush administration did, including its handing of 9/11 and the anthrax scare and the USA PATRIOT act and so forth are really the cornerstone of just about every foreign policy we have now.

I ran across this interesting blog entry just a few days ago, about Anthrax:

http://georgewashington.blogspot.com/200...

Another thing that I wonder about is that the Bush administration keeps promising that they will present evidence of whatever they have alleged ... and then the evidence never seems to show up. Nobody in the press ever seems to notice after a week, a month, a year, that what is promised, and what we assume to be true at face value, is never substantiated. Important things like the guilt of Bin Laden or the connection of Sadaam Hussein to Al Queda were alleged, were never actually proven ... and yet the administration goes along with their plans and the country goes along as well....

Here's another interesting "what ever happened to" that I found via a post on the John Edwards Blog at http://blog.johnedwards.com/story/2007/1... :

It says:

Have you heard of the North American Union? Have you looked at the web site: SPP.gov? I would like to hear your thoughts regarding the following:

Great Post Eric.  I always wonder the same things.  What ever happened to the Jeff Gannon story? etc.  I know we can't wait for the Main Stream Media to update us on these types of investigations..  like the Anthrax for example.  So I am grateful for you to spur on these discussions and not let them go by the wayside.  We should all do a better job of following up on and remembering the stories that are important.  Thanks.

The "official" story about what happened on 9/11 is an absolute lie.

All you have to do is believe your own eyes and not what you're being told.

I believed and didn't question the lie until I saw Loose Change.

Please watch these Google videos:

9/11 Press for Truth, Loose Change 2nd Edition, 9/11 Mysteries, Terror Storm,

Zeitgeist, America: Freedom to Fascism

Kucinich MUST win in 2008!!  Please donate on Dec 15.
