When Democrats run away from Republicans on one issue, they just get chased to a new one that they feel the need to run from. If they stop running and stand their ground, voters will reward  Democrats.

Speaking of which, Pelosi and the Dems have gone out of their way to distance and denounce Code Pink and MoveOn, but there was Bush yesterday linking them. DCDems need to learn that they will be attacked even when they abandon those whom they should consider allies and supporters -- and therefor stick with them.

It's a shell game. Everybody's promising to do something that someone else is responsible for.

The pharmaceutical companies are over-charging because they operate in a monopoly environment. Who granted them that? Who's maintaining that? Relatively speaking, banking has actually been opened up to competition and there are regulations with which they are supposed to comply.

If the executive agencies are not conducting reviews and bringing enforcement actions, then whose fault is that?

What I'm referring to is for example, when someone comes in this country legally with a visa for whatever reason, this country has no idea where they really go or how to locate them when their visa runs out & they continue to stay in this country. That is what was  the situation with the 911 hijackers. They were here legally, but had continued to stay etc. That's just one example. And we should have passed an immigration bill that allowed us to know who's really here working etc. If people come here to work & do jobs that need to be done, what's wrong with that? But don't we need to know it?

Could hillary have answered better? Yes. She should have done as Gov. Spitzer does and explain in one short paragraph that issuing (non-federal ID) driver's licences enhances security by getting people registered and makes the roads safer. She should have also pointed out that it is in line with recommendations by Chertoff and HSD, and that 7 states have already done it.

Now how hard was that to explain?

Former president discusses UFO experience

Watch President Carter's interview on CNN's American Morning Friday.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich caused heads to turn earlier this week when he acknowledged he once saw a UFO.

But if elected to the White House, Kucinich wouldn't be the first president to have such an encounter.

"When I was back as a peanut farmer in southwest Georgia, I and about 25 others saw something in the air that changed colors and was round and came and left," former President Jimmy Carter said in an interview with CNN’s John Roberts on American Morning. "We couldn't figure out what it was."

But while he couldn't identify the object, Carter said he doesn't think it was space aliens.

"It was unidentified as far as we were concerned, but I think it's impossible in my opinion, some people disagree, to have space people from other planets or other stars to come to us — I don't think that's possible," he said.

Dennis shouldn't have hedged.  He should have stood up and said "yes I did, and so have millions of other Americans, including President Carter."  Then he should have followed that with "Why are you wasting the limited time of this debate on something which has no effect on the future of this nation and the American People."

I'm not a fan of Kucinich's, but the questioner should have been slapped down hard.

Why all these undecided Dem Judiciary Committee votes? It ought to be a no-brainer for all of them.

There is yet another reason to vote no that has gotten little if any attention. When Mukasey was asked this: When the House or Senate issues a subpoena to someone and that person does not respond to it, will he direct the Judicial Dept to enforce the subpoena? His answer was NO.

That should have been all they needed to know the this guy would be working for Bush, not the people.

Chagolla wouldn't release the man's name, but said the person taken into custody was a middle-aged adult male from South Carolina who was working at the plant as a contractor.
