Don't be sorry, it's nothing he hasn't been saying since he's been putting together this Climate crisis campaign, however his oppenents wish to spin it.
I've been invited by a local MoveOn member's email to attend a Life Earth party this Sat evening. Sounds inviting but I'll have to see if I can fit it into my schedule, what with working a second job over the weekend.

Dean's mistake was being the first to run an attack ad, had he been responding things would have been different.
--------
Well, after that happened Demos did start "responding things" primarily on everything Reps do..and what? They started to loose uninterruptedly till 2004 election.
If there were mistakes on Dean's part back then only because he did not diversified and did not made those "attack adds" more comprehensible for American people, imo. In general one can't win sitting in defense trenches (one more argument, btw, why Bush&Co were wining for so long).
Run Al Run!
Robert Gibbs is a creepy weasel with a disturbing legacy. I'd like to see him canned from Obama's campaign, the sooner the better.
Also, I have regarded Edwards anti-poverty crusade in the past as all fluff and no stuff, but I understand he has championed a fairly comprehensive tuition grant program that represents, to me, a real concrete proposal against economic stratification in the U.S. I think he deserves credit for it.
Welcome back, Nixon! (+)

If you thought the past several years were an awful lot like the Nixon years, you ain't seen nothing yet:
The day before Senate Watergate Committee minority counsel Fred Thompson made the inquiry that launched him into the national spotlight -- asking an aide to President Nixon whether there was a White House taping system -- he telephoned Nixon's lawyer.
Thompson tipped off the White House that the committee knew about the taping system and would be making the information public. In his all-but-forgotten Watergate memoir, "At That Point in Time," Thompson said he acted with "no authority" in divulging the committee's knowledge of the tapes, which provided the evidence that led to Nixon's resignation. It was one of many Thompson leaks to the Nixon team, according to a former investigator for Democrats on the committee, Scott Armstrong , who remains upset at Thompson's actions.
"Thompson was a mole for the White House," Armstrong said in an interview. "Fred was working hammer and tong to defeat the investigation of finding out what happened to authorize Watergate and find out what the role of the president was."
As Josh Marshall notes, "[n]o wonder the Bushies are so into him."
what a guy. another putz and treasonous person we don't need.
Kudos to Al for everything he's done to transcend borders, barriers to get the message of global warming onto the front burner of every citizen's mind in the world. Even some of the poorest of the poor are starting to get news of how the environment and human interaction with it, is a leading cause to drought, poverty, etc.
That's no easy feat and it takes a COOL head like AL's to stay focused on that message.

I couldn't disagree more. The Republicans would do themselves a favor by regrouping under some other banner and with new leaders without Fascist dreams for America.

I couldn't agree more.
Yes, "The Republicans would"...BUT THEY WON'T.
And they WON'T because, as they already proved, "fascist dreams for America" (in form of PNAC) CAN STILL WORK!
Don't blame Republicans for that fact, blame Democrats who essentially HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER to Americans INSTEAD!

State vaccination rule sought
Bills seek to give public health officials, not lawmakers or parents, power to call the shots.
By Dorsey Griffith - Bee Medical Writer
Published 6:42 am PDT Tuesday, July 3, 2007
A proposal to allow state public health officials to mandate new vaccines for children without legislative tinkering is picking up steam among California lawmakers.
Assembly Bill 16, the bill that originally would have required the cervical cancer vaccine for girls, now addresses how vaccines are included on the state's list of required childhood immunizations, authorizing the state public health officer to make the final call. The bill is being touted by supporters as an effort to strip politics from a process that has long been subject to legislative debate.
"The way we determine what immunizations we will require of children is a mess," said Teresa Stark, a lobbyist for the California Medical Association. "We want the decisions to be made based on science and what's best for the public health."
Opponents counter that the bill's new version would rubber-stamp potentially controversial immunizations such as the vaccine against the cancer-causing human papillomavirus.
"We opposed the original bill because of the mandate," said Karen England, executive director of the Capitol Resource Institute, a conservative parental rights advocacy organization. "This is even worse, because it turns the power over to public health officials with no recourse for the people to be heard."
AB 16, by Ed Hernandez, D-West Covina, is one of three immunization bills currently under consideration. SB 676 by Mark Ridley-Thomas, D-Los Angeles, would mandate whooping cough booster shots, and SB 533 by Leland Yee, D-San Francisco, would require pneumococcus vaccine for children entering...
Rick Rollens of Granite Bay believes his 16-year-old son, Russell, is autistic because of routine childhood vaccinations, and has since championed efforts to investigate possible causes of neurodevelopmental disorders, including childhood immunizations.
Although no definitive link has been established between childhood vaccines and the jump in autism rates, Rollens and many others worry that children are exposed to too many vaccines too soon, and that any law to remove public debate from the decision-making process is dangerous.
"It becomes a situation totally controlled by the public health community, which to date has not found a vaccine they can't love," Rollens said. "With 300 new vaccines in development for such non-life-threatening conditions such as diarrhea, stomach ulcers and mononucleosis, it will be a public health disaster."....

Joan,
That wouldnt really solve the problem.......take your Democratic party and us Independents if we were left........there would be fragments off from each group.......to me, right now, this Democratic party is not all that differant from the repubs in several key areas.....
I would imagine, IF we kicked out the repubs..within a few years you might easily be calling for us old school isolationists to hit the road as well..........its happened before......
I do underatand what you are saying however.......personally Im more afraid of right wing evangelical nutcases than I am al qaeda........

Phil, is that how it was?

None that I know of other than that a lot of money flowed into it from Missouri. The guy who managed the Swift-boaters and sold the Ohio Secretary of State his unique computer operating system, William E. Franke, is also from Missouri.
Do you know that there's a World Trade Center in St. Louis and that there's a close link with traders in VietNam and Laos and other countries in the orient and that John Kerry's brother's interests in trade with VietNam may well have been perceived as competitive with the interests of the St. Louis crowd?
The extent to which our free enterprise system has become dependent on government support and assistance is really deplorable. I'm quite content to have our markets protected from unscrupulous operators by the agents of government; I'm not keen on having unscrupulous operators backed up by our military forces. The latter has become the predominant pattern.
Wait. Monica, are you saying that the Club for Growth targeted Dean on Gephardt's behalf, but that Gephardt has no relationship with Club for Growth except that some of its big contributors are from Missouri?
38.
Yep. that's what I suspect. Hey, it's not at all unusual for people to "level the playing field" by getting rid of the weeds.
think of it in terms of playing pool. You hit one ball to sink another. It's what I call "triangulation"
BTW, NBC still is showing the interview they did with Al Gore this morning. You know, the one the news is pulling apart and slapping back together to try to make something out of it.
Here's the link. A good interview, even though he's a bit more somber in it. He definitely livened up a bit in the last one.

Linda*in*SFNM Thu, 07/05/07 3:13 pm ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Linda, Al Gore was primarily calling for us, mainly this country to "change"......lets be reasonable, you, me , most here probably could change our habits somewhat, but what will Joe and Jane Six Pack do? Will they give up their hummers, trucks, driving at excessive and dangerous speed, cut out the long drive vacations?
Can you imagine some Bushie riding a recumbent bike to work (if they still have a job) that is.....I dont think most here are ready for change and commitment, perhaps Im wrong......the rich wont give up their lifestyles too.......so it crosses all socio economic bariers.............
Gore was very articulate in his interview.........always easy to comprehend....a visionary and a gifted man for our times..........what a waste of 8 years under Bush.
Hey Mike. We can hope they will. The more the merrier. But too, it's a collective effort. Some will always do more, maybe because they want to, know too, have the ability to and can. Hopefully if the others don't or can't make the changes they should be able to, they will speak up that our government needs to act. And then together, just maybe, we can do something about it.
Still, our policies and laws need to exist in the end, to make the real changes that will impact us all and hopefully those others will voice that as well.
Yes, Al Gore is amazing and still, I hope when his commitments are accomplished, he will lead us to the better place forward we should be.
From Paul Kane in the Washington Post:
"Sen. Pete Domenici (N.M.), a 36-year Republican veteran of the Senate, abandoned President Bush's Iraq war policy today by publicly endorsing legislation designed to withdraw nearly all U.S. troops from Iraq by March 2008."

Barrington couple to serve as co-chairs for Dodd campaign in Strafford County document.title = unescape("Barrington%20couple%20to%20serve%20as%20co-chairs%20for%20Dodd%20campaign%20in%20Strafford%20County") + " - Fosters";By AMANDA DUMOND
Democrat Staff Writer
adumond@fosters.com
BARRINGTON — A local couple will serve as Strafford County co-chairs for Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd's presidential campaign.
Gail and Mark Mitchell, who recently announced their support for Dodd and hosted a house party for him at their home, will use grassroots techniques they have used for past campaigns. That will include knocking on neighbors' doors, talking to friends and other political activists and making numerous phone calls.
The Mitchells also were some of U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter's earliest supporters, and they worked tirelessly for her campaign, Bryan Deangelis, Dodd's New Hampshire press secretary said.
"They are two very effective Democrat activists," Deangelis added. "They've done a lot of work for Democrats in Strafford County, and the campaign thought they'd be an asset in that county."
Gail said she and her husband, who are retired but run a business from their home, carefully considered candidates they viewed as major contenders for the presidency, including McCain, Obama and Dodd.
"We took a long time to select him (Dodd), but he's got integrity and boldness and has served twenty-six years in the Senate," she added.
The Mitchells also were drawn to his support of education, veterans and unions and his desire to bring current soldiers home from Iraq. Most of all, Gail said she and Mark support Dodd because he is a politician of action. His supporters, she added, have a hard time getting him to campaign more because he is focused on passing legislation in the U.S. Senate.
"He also breaks from the pack when he feels strongly about an issue," Gail also said.
While Gail noted she nearly burned out working on the Carol Shea-Porter campaign, she is excited about the prospect of supporting Dodd in his campaign.
"It's going to be nuts," she added. "But I wish that everyone will judge the candidates for who they really are and choose who they think is best (for president)."
She added that New Hampshire residents have a greater opportunity of really getting to know presidential candidates because of the state's first primary in the nation tradition.
Mark, a former member of the state police, deferred to his wife when asked about their cochairmanship. They have two daughters and one granddaughter.
OK, this will make your tin foil hats smile. I just talked with the young man who's resurfacing my bathtub. He told me about the following link but I can't get the photos so maybe you can. Anyway, he asked me if I'd ever seen a close up of the planes flying into the towers? And then he said that there are citizens who managed to not have their films confiscated who took close-up and guess what's in the cameras? NO WINDOWS ON THE PLANES THAT FLEW INTO THE TOWER. They were refueling planes that had those long hoses attached. Here's the site. Has anyone ever heard of this? BTW, this young man, hates Putz and likes Gore but is wondering what his ties are right now to big oil.
911 In Plane Site DVDPresenting video and photographic evidence of the largest cover-up in modern day history. 911 In Plane Site: The must see blockbuster DVD of the year.
Tom, good question. We need to ask questions. We are not sheep or lemmings. We the people do not have to be a member of something like a football game looking for a winner or loser. But many feel the dire need to have a job to survive and will sell out to survive. It is sad. I will survive, and fight for all. Look what Kate O'Conner did after the Dean campaign. Sad.
Though I like Dodd, the interviews I have seen him on show his tendency to claim all the credit in circumstances and ignore completely any other candidates. It's a bit of a turnoff for me.
~~~~~~~~~~
When asked who he would endorse for president, Al Gore said he wasn't ready to endorse.
First, I think the right wing media wants to push him into endorsing and out of running for prez.
What a great day if Al Gore would pull a Cheney and endorse himself for president.
The Anthrax scare was never solved. Will they plead the 5th on that for national security?
We're being prepared for staying beyond Sept as per an interview on CNN, despite what Patreaus says. Apparently, now things are going well. Have you noticed that the CMWs are not longer telling us much, if anything, about Iraq or the deaths of our soldiers?
I'm off to call critters locally. I seem to be in a perpetual state of pissed off but it's not interferring with eating or sleeping. :-)
Flight 77 hit the Pentagon in the nearly empty, recently reinforced and strengthened section
On this page
- Boeing's "auto-land" system
- Pentagon renovation program - the Pentagon was hit in the nearly empty, under reconstruction sector
- The alleged pilot flunked flight school
- Robot Warplanes
- Articles about remote control possibility
- The Lone Gunmen - fictional show about remote control hijacking six months before 9/11 (on Fox TV)
- Dov Zakheim, the Project for a New American Century, Remote Controlled 9/11 Planes and the Pentagon's Missing Trillion Dollars
related pages:
- Hijacking the hijackers (via remote control)
- The Complete No Planes on 9/11 Timeline (the "no plane" disinformation probably obscures the reality of remote controlled Boeings)
There is considerable circumstantial evidence to suggest that remote control technology may have been used to override the plane's controls. It is highly unlikely that flight school drop outs managed to carry out the precision maneuvers on 9/11, and it is even less likely that an expert Egyptian or Saudi pilot would have picked the recently strengthened, under construction, almost empty section of the Pentagon as a target.
The side of the Pentagon that was hit was nearly empty -- and the location for an ongoing major construction project to strengthen the building against such an attack. The plane's trajectory would be extremely difficult for a novice pilot to perform (unlike the much simpler approach to the Twin Towers). This fact makes the official story of "novice pilots" less than believable ...
The first plane that went into the towers passed over Indian Point nuclear power station, on the Hudson river just north of the New York City suburbs. The alleged "al-Qaeda" is described as wanting to do as much murder and mayhem as possible, yet chose to avoid a target that would have caused unbelievable devastation (how would all of New York city, or New England, be permanently evacuated? This question is a good reason to shift from nuclear power to renewable, safe, decentralized energy sources).
The one way to get polls up for w is an attack here. But he does not follow the polls (he was way down before 911). He is the decider. All we are is the people.
Michael Ruppert, who did a thorough investigation of the 9/11 hoax, has had to close his website and go into seclusion due to numerous death threats over the years. He also was one of the first to expose the peak oil crisis.
Sea, thanks for all you do.
seashell, I didn't get to see any photos either.
Now I know they were talking about the plane that hit the Pentagon wasn't a commercial jet, but never heard about the Twin Towers.
Loose Change, the movie, which Sir Richard Branson was also playing on his flights, discusses much of that.
And now for Gore and the Oil industry. I don't think so. I don't know of any connection aside from them always spending as much as possible to try to discredit him. And of course, he is talking about ways to move from those toxic fuels and dirty energy that is the Oil industry.
King Cong (Coal Oil Nukes Gas) are not allies and spent millions with fake news, scientist and PR. They own American Enterprise Institute, fund a handful of scientists, a major contributor in World Net Daily, NewsBusters, TCPR (Tennessee Center Policy Research ).
So I would say he isn't too alligned with them. :)
OK, I gotta get away instead of posting D& G. The dying woman story is so revolting, I need to go outside for awhile.
These people who didn't stop to help her .... I would have gone for their throats.
One person's opinion about the dying women:
"Lets get real people. The name "LaShanda Calloway" is obviously African-American.This tragedy happened in a high crime African-American area.To blame the Bush Administration and Bush supporters for this kind of lack of humanity is simply unfair.And I favor impeachment of both Bush and Cheney now but this one is not their fault. I'm not so sure about that. The general callousness of the WH is being mirrored, or is the WH mirroring the gen'l population? I don't know.
72. seashell, yes, I did get to see the trailer.
They do cover how the pentagon's damage could not have been by a commerical jet. But of course, no way to make out on that one shot of a plane going in to the towers.
I remember watching CNN that morning and watching the 2nd plane fly in...and I believe I remember it looking bright and shiny like AA's planes were. But that's not to say it only appeared that way.
I do believe fully our government was complicit. Knowing they were going to happen and allowed it. The Pentagon, because it was "home turf" may have been thwarted. We need disclosure and truth.
I think this film has been over dramatized because you hear voices saying "that's not American Airlines" as the plane was hitting and I don't think anyone on the ground knew at the time what was later known to be who and what happened. But I would like to see the full pic.
SO, WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH KANSAS?
Hi,
Here's something, 77 actions of the Bush Administration in its first year. I'll post a few. If anyone is interested in all of them, let me know.
"Seventy Seven Ways to Blow Your Cover?"
George W. Bush's First year in office he:
*1. Significantly eased field-testing controls of genetically engineered crops.
2. Cut federal spending on libraries by $39 million.
3. Cut $35 million in funding for doctors to get advanced pediatric training.
4. Cut by 50% funding for research into renewable energy sources.
5. Revoked rules that reduced the acceptable levels of arsenic in drinking water.
6. Blocked rules that would require federal agencies to offer bilingual assistance to non-English speaking persons. This, from a candidate who would readily fire-up his Spanish-speaking skills in front of would- be Hispanic voters.
7. Proposed to eliminate new marine protections for the Channel Islands and the coral reefs of northwest Hawaii (San Francisco Chronicle, April 6, 2001).
8. Cut funding by 28% for research into cleaner, more efficient cars and trucks.
9. Suspended rules that would have strengthened the government's ability to deny contracts to companies that violated workplace safety, environmental and other federal laws.
10. OK'd Interior Department appointee Gale Norton to send out letters to state officials soliciting suggestions for opening up national monuments for oil and gas drilling, coal mining, and foresting.
11. Appointed John Negroponte - an un-indicted high-level Iran Contra figure to the post of United Nations Ambassador.
12. Abandoned a campaign pledge to invest $100 million for rain forest conservation.
13. Reduced by 86% the Community Access Program for public hospitals, clinics and providers of care for people without insurance.
14. Rescinded a proposal to increase public access to information about the potential consequences resulting from chemical plant accidents.
15. Suspended rules that would require hardrock miners to clean up sites on Western public lands.
16. Cut $60 million from a Boy's and Girl's Clubs of America program for public housing.
17. Proposed to eliminate a federal program, designed and successfully used in Seattle, to help communities prepare for natural disasters.
18. Pulled out of the 1997 Kyoto Treaty global warming agreement.
19. Cut $200 million of work force training for dislocated workers.
Draft Gore Petition: Just 2K Shy of 100K Signatures
If Bloomberg can spend 500 million ,why not get 25 million giving 20 bucks each for Gore/Dean, the peoples third party.
For your pleasure,
Bush is giving the finger, not only to Democrats, but also to 70% of Americans over the Libby rescue. And you know what? He doesn't give a damn.
He's not up for re-election, he knows that Democrats will not follow through in any meaningful way. Nancy says that impeachement is "off the Table".
Dems are soooo pathetic! they make a few noises, and they think that will soothe their base.
I hope they're wrong, bui I'm hearing this sucking sound of rank-and-file Democrats lining up behind losers like Clinton and Obama.
I will do and give what ever I can for that!
Excellent diary, Linda....and I'm sure at least partially responsible for the climbing numbers.
SO, WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH KANSAS?
I drove through Liberal Kansas a few years ago, and saw no signs of liberality. Just a bunch of Redneck assholes slurping up the Republican koolaid-du-jour
♥ Linda*in*SFNM ~ great post. If I'm not on the road in the morning I'm tagging along w/ Donna to a party :-)
Hi Pat - great to see you :-) Thanks for posting the link - it's been a while since all the early woes were paid much attention. Could you post the link for your list... and it seems a safe bet that there are lists for the other years in office as well? If you don't have 'em, I'll try to google around some tomorrrow.
Whilst Donna was off mining salt, Denise and I were missing her on this Oh, what a beautiful morning on the south side of Chicago. We met in the Bridgeport neighborhood, ordered a delicious breakfast (I inhaled mine), drank lots of coffee, and enjoyed a good visit. Love ya, Denise, it's always so good to see you ♥
Wow! how could I forget to mention... Denise at 35th and Halsted in a Cubs t-shirt!!! Gotta love it!!!
As always, it's great to get together/talk with fellow bloggers :-)
♥ ♥ ♥ 's to all
Kindness is free!
John, like many other americans the people of Kansas need to turn the tv and radio off.
II regret I could not post my comment, and had to withdraw it for reasons of national security. Just a joke, pardon me ! (or Dick)
This is a good example of doing nothing to stop the madness.
Wexler: Censure Bush Over Libby
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/070507R.shtml
Representative Robert Wexler (D-Florida) has drafted a resolution to censure Bush for his commutation of Scooter Libby's prison sentence, reported Larry Lipman of the Palm Beach Post today. Wexler says Congress must go on record in strong opposition to Bush's actions.
IMPEACH CHENEY, YOU WIMPS.
Jeez, now I have to go outside again to get clean.
Why has the State Dept. fallen so far behind in issuing passports? Heckuva job!
