FBI raids Doolittle's Virginia home
The Doolittles did it:
WASHINGTON - The FBI raided the Virginia home of Rep. John Doolittle and his wife on Friday, executing a search warrant for materials related to Julie Doolittle's company, Sierra Dominion Financial Services.
The raid was believed to be in connection with the ongoing federal investigation of the political corruption scandal stirred by disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff, a one-time Republican star who last year pleaded guilty to three felony charges of defrauding Indian tribes and corrupting political officials.
Abramoff had a close friendship with the Doolittles. The congressmen aided several of his clients and Julie Doolittle worked for the high-profile lobbyist.
And in other news, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales testifies today at Senate hearing that 8 U.S. Attorneys were fired for reasons that were justifiable and not political - after lying about it for the past 5 months.

from previous thread: 55. Linda*in*SFNM
you're right of course (duh!) - still, as long as Al's not in, Edwards is at least one candidate i can get excited about, especially with Trippi on board.
Found this on KOS...
What happens when Bush takes Viagra? he gets taller. (by Robin Williams)
Got it! Thanks, everybody. It even went to the dock automatically when the fairies put it there. But the video is choppy..needs to play straight thru I guess first. I can't believe I downloaded it correctly when they asked all those questions I guessed at. I'm such a dweeb!
The idea of Chertoff replacing Gonzo doesn't help me sleep at night. Replacements will always be filled by putz incompetents and handkissers (cleaned that up).
We need to dump Cheney and Rice ASAP.
Are we spinning our wheels by going after the smaller fry, knowing that the big fish are getting away?
OK, Edwards is right on the law of torts. He probably feels for the poor, but he's building a giant of a house. This is not necessarily a bad thing because poor people derive inspiration from people getting rich.
He wasn't in the senate long enough to have significant input into the DoD budgets that started us on the road to Iraq.
His position on the war in Iraq and his approach to Iran is a problem.
Until Edwards says he's against pre-emptive war, I can't be excited about him. At least, to my knowledge, he hasn't bowed and spoken before AIPAC, but I sure want to know how he answers questions about AIPAC's stranglehold on our foreign policy.
Gore/Dean if we want our country back.
Most everybody else if we don't.
I thought I just read that Trippi was working for some guy in Maryland or something. Will have to check National Journal.
Ah yes---
Trippi's Latest Venture
Campaign ads for mayoral candidate Tom Knox have dominated Philadelphia's airwaves for the past few months and vaulted Knox into first place among the five Democrats seeking the nomination. The man behind the ads is consultant Joe Trippi, who helped make Howard Dean the early front-runner in the 2004 presidential campaign.
Trippi is now sculpting Knox's image as a political outsider driven to clean up the city. Knox, a self-financed millionaire, has spent about $4.9 million on TV time, nearly four times more than his nearest rival. In several of the spots, Knox says he wants to "take the 'For Sale' sign off City Hall."
Trippi signed on 19 months ago, he says, because he was intrigued by the chance to work with another insurgent candidate. "Before I got the job, I asked, 'Why are you running?' He said, 'To take the damn "For Sale" sign off City Hall.' They were the first words out of his mouth.... I told him to get rid of the 'damn' and we could use it."
In one biographical spot, Knox remembers the sound of his mother crying herself to sleep out of fear that she would not be able to feed him and his brothers. "He just blurted it out," Trippi said. "That's how the best spots happen." When interviewed, voters frequently cite that ad. (Philadelphia Inquirer, 4/9)
Stupid line--everybody knows that when you take off the 'For Sale" it's because you just bought it.
Trippi is good at spending lots of money.
"Stupid line--everybody knows that when you take off the 'For Sale" it's because you just bought it."
Excellent counter-point !! I wish I had thought of that.
If the media wasn't 'paid for' and the Republicans couldn't control any aspect of our elections... it would be DEAN/DEAN ! I know, better they are where they are right now. Feeling rather empty about our candidates for President. I personally like all them all, but sure can't get excited.
Massive backlash on cable's airiing of the 'killer' over and over. They are now trying to defend themselves. "We thought we could LEARN somthing from it". This is so great, the American people are now chastizing the media! IN force.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
