DFA kicks off Training Academy with U.S. Rep. James Clyburn & State Rep. Gilda Cobb-Hunter in South Carolina
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Democracy for America Kicks Off Campaign Training Academy with U.S. Rep. James Clyburn and State Rep. Gilda Cobb-Hunter in Columbia
COLUMBIA, SC -- Building on the momentum of the 2006 electoral victories, Democracy for America will launch its national 2007 campaign training schedule in Columbia, South Carolina with U.S. Representative James Clyburn and State House Representative Gilda Cobb-Hunter on Saturday, March 17-18, 2007 at University of South Carolina Law School Law Center Building, 701 Main Street from 9-6pm.
The 2008 Presidential Race has begun. Thousands of Democracy for America (DFA) grassroots activists from over 850 local groups across the country have registered for campaign training in their cities because they are taking an active role in this race as well as the state and municipal elections in 2007.
The DFA Training Academy features experienced campaign professionals and covers practical strategies and tactics in areas such as communications, fundraising, voter targeting, online organizing, and building a sustainable grassroots movement. The program is designed to be practical and immediately useful in community organizing activities. These skills are essential for activists who will volunteer with presidential primary campaigns or run for elected office.
Currently, DFA has trained over 10,000 activists across America leading to over 500 electoral victories at all levels of national, state and local government. Rep. Clyburn will address community activists Saturday morning from 9:10-9:20. State Rep. Gilda Cobb-Hunter will be speaking on Sunday during lunch.
“Our DFA Training Academy graduates are using their power to turn these victories into a lasting movement,” said Democracy for America Chair Jim Dean.

Remember how James Carville called for Dean to be ousted by Harold Ford. LOL Now another Clinton buddy is saying it....Harold Ford in Dean Out. This is pollster Mark Penn's partner and now a FOX strategist like Ford is....Doug Schoen.

How very obvious can they be?????
Go Howard.
Oops. Time to make more room on your U.S. attorney purge scandal scorecard.
Today, CREW sent a letter to the House's chief sleuth, Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA), requesting an investigation into the White House's use of outside email addresses. If it's a slippery way of avoiding keeping a record, it's potentially a violation of the Presidential Records Act. More here.
ford is a real whore. he lost tn. because he tried to suck up to the powers that be.
now he works for faux news.
maybe he really doesn't like girls.

4. floridagal - And if Hillary gets the nomination we'll get to see much more of these types. That's one of the main reasons I hope Hillary is unsuccessful in her nomination bid. I'm tired of the Clintons and their hangers' on.
floridagal. these so called people are has beens. no one listens to carville anymore.
and ford lost. then he went over to fox? and murdoch is supporting hillary?
I will not vote for hillary cause the rethugs are supporting her.
I'm sure it's been said in previous threads, but since it seems obvious that the "confession" of khalid sheik Mohammed was obtained by torture, it's worthless--like McCain's confession in N Vietnam.
Don't the media have anything bgetter to do than report this crap?
I keep wondering why Chris Dodd isn't getting more attention in his prez primary bid. I hear him speak, get his emails and visit his really nice website http://www.chrisdodd.com/home
Chris has the experience, resume, brains, attitude and humor to be in the top tier at least.

Panel OKs subpoenas in attorney probe By LAURIE KELLMAN, Associated Press Writer
2 hours, 8 minutes ago
"Eight U.S. attorneys who did not play ball with the political agenda of this administration were dropped from the team," said Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin of Illinois. "We have a right to ask what that political agenda was and whether or not it was a reasonable firing and dismissal."
-----
It will be interesting to see if the President, Vice President, or both were directly involved in these troubling executive decisions to terminate these US Attorneys.
Joan wrote "I keep wondering why Chris Dodd isn't getting more attention in his prez primary bid."
I have this very uneasy feeling about Dodd that stems, perhaps irrationally, from his membership in the stable of senators who regularly appear as guests on Don Imus's radio show. They include Dodd, Kerry, Lieberman, Domenici, and McCain, and used to include Kerrey, Santorum and Frist. It may have been because he was part of a national broadcast to a politically heterogeneous audience, but Dodd always sounded very cautious and concilliatory. It really bothered me. Maybe he's not that way, but how am I supposed to tell?
Dems in the Senate defeat their own resolution. Lieberman (I), Ben Nelson, Mark Pryor all voted against the Sept 2008 pullout attached to the supplemental spending bill. Gordon Smith voted for.

Tom,
I can't answer that. Death by association is not always reliable. We'll keep watching them all.
IMus is a show Dean appeared on numerous times. He seemed to enjoy it.
Joan wrote "Death by association is not always reliable."
No, I'm not saying I distrusted his views because he appeared on Imus. If that were the case, it wouldn't reflect very well on me, based on similar reasoning, that I happened to be listening.
It was the fact that he usually sounded like kind of a milquetoast moderate when he appeared. I couldn't be sure if he was cowed by Imus's supposedly high powered audience demographics or was cautious by nature. The worst is Russert. He always sounds like he's kissing Imus's ring when he comes on. It's kind of nauseating.
Help PSR Make a Difference in Congress
What:
When:
Where:
Who: PSR Lobby Day
Thursday, April 26
Washington, DC
All PSR activists, members, staff and boards of directors
PSR has scheduled a lobby day on April 26th to work on our two priority issues: nuclear weapons and global warming. This is an opportunity to visit hundreds of offices to call for nuclear disarmament and solutions to global warming. Your trip to DC also is an opportunity to express your concern about the war in Iraq and the potential for conflict in Iran. Please join us to help make a difference on the most critical issues of our day.
Even if you can’t make it to Washington, D.C. you can still take part in PSR Lobby Day. By pledging to call your representative and senators on April 26th, you can make your voice heard.
PSR will prepare materials, coordinate a briefing ahead of the lobby day and set up meetings with congressional staff. Specifically, we plan to brief participants the evening of Wednesday, April 25, in the PSR offices. We will set up meetings throughout the day for April 26 and will have a ‘headquarters’ centrally located on the Hill. In the meantime, click on the embedded links below to learn more about the issues.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to meet with the offices of your representative and senators. We will set up all the meetings, but if you have a special relationship that we should be aware of, please let us know.
Complex 2030 (Bombplex) is the Bush administration plan to reconstitute the nuclear weapons complex to Cold War era production at a cost of more than $150 billion. This proposal is unnecessary, unjustified and unaffordable. It also carries significant implications for international nuclear weapons talks. With the recent Department of Energy announcement of its design selection for the Reliable Replacement Warhead (RRW), now, more than ever, is the time to call on Congress to halt the production of new nuclear weapons.
And with the latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change confirming that evidence of the earth’s warming is “unequivocal” and that humans are the primary cause, the need for action on global warming is urgent. Global warming is the greatest environmental challenge we face as a country and as a planet. To avoid the most dangerous consequences of global warming, Congress must act immediately to put in place mandatory controls on greenhouse gas emissions.
Many PSR members continue to be dismayed by the Iraq war and the threatening posture the U.S. is taking against Iran. Throughout the week chapter leaders and board members will be meeting in Washington to discuss PSR strategies to end these conflicts. Although Iraq and Iran will not be the focus of lobbying on Thursday, we encourage anyone attending to use their time in Washington to speak out on these issues.
For more information, please contact Casey Vermeulen, at 202-667-4260 x 234 or cvermeulen@psr.org. Casey will coordinate meeting schedules.

EXCLUSIVE: E-Mails Show Rove's Role in U.S. Attorney FiringsUnreleased E-Mails Contradict White House Assertions That the Firings Originated With Harriet MiersBy JAN CRAWFORD GREENBURG
March 15, 2007 — New unreleased e-mails from top administration officials show that the idea of firing all 93 U.S. attorneys was raised by White House adviser Karl Rove in early January 2005, indicating Rove was more involved in the plan than the White House previously acknowledged.
The e-mails also show that Attorney General Alberto Gonzales discussed the idea of firing the attorneys en masse weeks before he was confirmed as attorney general.
The e-mails directly contradict White House assertions that the notion originated with recently departed White House counsel Harriet Miers, and was her idea alone.
Two independent sources in a position to know have described the contents of the e-mail exchange, which could be released as early as Friday. They put Rove at the epicenter of the imbroglio and raise questions about Gonzales' explanations of the matter
blitzer is a hag. can't even construct a complete sentence.
and how much regulation does the fcc have? these are so called "news" channels and after 10pm there is no news, including headline news.

joan, the dems knew it would not pass. this is a set up to show people they don't care about our troops.
more resolutions coming. wait.
Well, the Senate couldn't muster the majority necessary to pass the resolution which would have directed an end to the Iraq war.
The House can only muster enough to pass a tame measure which funds the war and the escalation with unenforceable benchmarks. Have we been abandoned? It's a very depressing Ides of March day.
