Where to Meet

Written by: Monica Smith on Jan 14, 2007 7:46 PM EST

Linked to groups: DC Massive March

After a cursory review of the map and taking into account that the assembly area is on the mall between 3rd street and 7th street NW, I'm thinking that the metro stop at the Verizon Center on 7th Street might be handy.  It would mean a few blocks to walk down to the Mall by the National Gallery, but if we meet at 10, there should be enough time.

thanks for your efforts to 'meetup' - I won't be there in body in body, but I'll definitely be there in spirit!

Hi Monica.  Thanks for directing me here.  Hope I can find it again on my own. See you in D.C. Hope there are a gazillion people marching with us.  B

Carol Jane Van Landingham and I, Betsy Emerson, are going to the peace march on the 27th, but are flying down the 26th, to BWI, taking the train into Washington and staying with my son, returning the 28th. Southwest Airlines has tickets which cost $117 approx, with all taxes and fees ($49 each way special rate, plus taxes and fees). We're going down on a 4:10 pm flight Friday and coming back Sunday lving Baltimore at 3:45 pm, I believe. Hope we'll see you there. And tell others about the relatively inexpensive flight.

Although the bus from Portsmouth is full, there are now two buses going from Portland and a pickup might be arranged.

well, there's finally an official march route...

i would suggest meeting on the front steps of the Air and Space Museum.
If memory serves me correctly, they are a fairly large/wide set of stairs
and relatively close to the starting point of the march. looks like we'll
have 2 hours of pre-march activities(yacking by the various entities that
make up the United for Peace org) before we actually start walking about 1 pm.

Im not big on lots of yacking thru a PA system at people standing around
in the cold. Hopefully it will pass quickly.
